Well it's finally dawned on DS11 that we are going to California in less than 7 months! :erm: and he wanted to know where my 'holiday sheet' was ' you know, like you made for disney' ( my itinerary ) so after much nagging at the weekend I wrote it all out for him, now it's scribbled down I thought I may as well stick it on here - funny that 3 weeks in WDW took several months of obsessive planning, 2 weeks in california took about 2 days ! :erm: Anyway , here it is
8th August Taxi to new travelodge at Heathrow
9th August 11am Virgin flight to San Francisco, (Staying at Holiday Inn Express ,Fishermans Wharf)we should arrive mid afternoon their time, so I'm hoping to keep the boys awake long enough to wander around fishermans wharf/pier 39
10th august We'll do the 5hr hour city shuttle tour that stops at all the landmarks/tourist spots, then spend the rest of the day at fishermans Wharf/pier 39
11th August Alcatraz today, I'd like to book the evening tour- but not sure if we'd still be too knackered by the time difference, so maybe do the first tour of the day. Rest of the day riding on the cable cars and visiting anywhere that caught our eye yesterday
12th August Maybe hire bikes and ride over the Bridge, get the ferry back from sausilito, mid afternoon ( 3/4pm ) we need to get the Monterey Airbus to Monterey, hopefully arrive monterey early evening, check into Holiday Inn Express , Cannery Row , wander and eat.
13th August I want to go on a Whalewatching boat, probably the morning one, rest of the day probably at the aquarium. Evening walk out to Lovers Point.
14th August Morning, Wander around the wharf or maybe go over to Carmel ( bus or taxi ) afternoon I'd like to do the movie bus tour , but not sure if the boys would be enthusiastic, maybe do it on my own, or we could do the glass bottom boat.
15th August to Monterey airport after breakfast, for Expressjet flight to San Diego ( this is a fairly new company and seats can't be booked this far in advance, so I'm hoping they don't change their schedule or 'disappear' before I can book ! )Hopefully arrive San Diego by midday, checkin to Embassy Suites , Downtown, then over to Midway Aircraft carrier ( I'm really looking forward to a nosy around this :confused2 ) wander around Seaport village in the evening
16th august Taxi to Zoo - be there for opening , if we have time after the Zoo, have a wander around Balboa park, bus or taxi back to Seaport
17th August Old Town Trolley tour ( hop on/off type tour ) getting off at Old Town, Coronado, Gas Lamp and if we have time, Horton plaza
18th august After breakfast taxi to Amtrak station to get the Pacific surfliner to anaheim, not sure whether to prebook this, or wait till we get there. Hopefully arrive Anaheim by early afternoon, check into Residence inn Anaheim Maingate, not sure what to do with rest of day - maybe Knotts soak city, or even Knotts Berry farm - not sure how busy it will be.
19th August disney or california adventure
20th August Six Flags magic mountain (DS11 is tormenting me with photos of the coasters :omg: )
21st August disney or California Adventure
22nd August beach bus tour of the beaches ( Laguna, Newport etc )disney or C A in the evening
23rd August Knottsberry Farm, if we haven't already done it
24th August Disney/ C. A in the morning, leave mid afternoon for evening flight back to U.K :cry:
Just added our heathrow hotel, and changed our Anaheim one - think I can leave it alone now for the next 6 1/2 months ? :D
