Just finalising the details for our Australia Trip, and one of the flight combinations we have is to fly Via Hong Kong, was really wondering what the airport was like in terms of relaxing inbetween flights(shopping), and shower facilities. Ive checked the website and it looks nice, but would appreciate people's views who have used it.
Wondering whether to add a couple of days on the way back and hit Disney in hong kong LOL

We had to go via HK a few times on our RTW trip. It is a very modern airport but doesn't compare or have the facilities like Singapore.

There are a few sit down restaurants but getting just a snack seemed to be very difficult. There are vending machines at most gates, but they seemed very expensive to me.

Overall I would give it a 7 maybe 8, compared to Singapore which in my mind is a 10.

As for HK Disneyland. We did that, 2nd full day in HK. Loved it. Much more manageable than Magic Kingdom but just be careful of the locals with their umbrellas, not for rain, but for protection from the sun. As most Chinese are very small, we quite often got whacked when walking around the park. We just laughed it off in the end.

Loved HK as a whole. Spent 5 nights there in total. The Novotel Citygate at HK Airport is the best airport hotel I have ever stayed in and quite possibly the best anywhere. Absolutely stunning.

When actually in HK we stayed on HK Island which gave us a better view of HK as a whole as opposed to Kowloon. The Ramada on HK Island is away from the touristy area and actually gave us a real feel for how the locals work, rest and play. Great hotel.

Definately add a few days on the way back in HK, you won't regret it. We did this when we went to Oz in 2006, we stayed at the Peninsula for 3 days. HK is quite pricey tho, so as an alternative, you might want to consider Kuala Lumpur instead? Fab shopping and you can get a top hotel for peanuts!
