Having been to Florida for the past zillion years we are thinking of going to Europe this year, but we are a bit out of touch with the European holiday scene! We are looking for a holiday which will suit ourselves and our 16 year old son who is taking a friend. We want the boys to have their independence and for them to have enough to do in terms of activities and nightlife, without it being Magaluf/Benidorm type entertainment! Would Vilamoura fit the bill? We would be looking for apartment type accommodation so any suggestions would be appreciated. Also, any suggestions for other destinations would be welcome.
Thanks for any help

Were off to Villamourra in the summer
has some fantastic waterparks in the Algarve now and there is an aquarium type park but not the greatest thing in the world
its pretty much a beach holiday unless your into golf
have you thought about the area around the Portaventura theme park in Tarragona in Spain
Costa Dorada can be excellent

When my two DSs were younger we took them to all the holiday resorts you could think of, Cyprus, Portugal, Spain, Crete,Rhodes Egypt, etc
Then one day DS1 was coming up to his 16 birthday and we asked him were he would like to go and he said France because he was doing History as one of his exams, so we said yes and he could take a friend.
[ me and Dh were not looking forward to it to be honest!!] so we stayed in a farm house in Normandy, and had one of our best holidays ever, we learnt so much on that holiday than all the others put together!!
Most of it to do with WW2, landing beaches, war menorials, musuems, and so much more!! then is all the lovely countryside,
Then on his 16th birthday we took him to Paris for the day,
I realise that not all 16 year olds are the same.
But it is something different.
