Anyone got any idea how much my kids can expect to pay for a Wii if we buy it in Florida?

Don't know, but the english games will not work on an american console.

the general rule we work by is that the numbers will be the same but with the $ instead of the £, so pretty much half price... but you will need a power convertor and will only be able to use american games but these are easily found in the internet

Prices aren't quite as good as £-$ price.

If you can get a Wii not in a bundle with games you would be looking at $250, but even US retailers are suffering the bundle the console with games disease. Add this with the drought of consoles worldwide and you could find it difficult although when you go I don't doubt they will be readily available.

They will only play US games although you could import these (subject to UK tax on import) or there are normally some US games on Ebay quite cheap.

Hi,
It might be worth keeping an eye on the Walmart website to get an idea about availability and prices.

http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do?search_constraint=0&search_query=wii&ic=24_0

At the moment the only package seems to be out of stock, but they did have other packages earlier in the year, similar to what we have at home.

I managed to get one for my son for Christmas - They are great fun :spin:

They are great got one this Christmas, but my advice would be to look at UK machines especially if when you are away UK shops are restocked.

At $250 + tax the machine will cost about £140 then a UK adapter for £5.
Total £145 (should be OK through customs with that)

If UK shops are stocked it is likely Dixons in the airport will have stocks then it would be £180 - 15% = £153

Worth thinking about although if you plan to buy US games while your out there the US one is the only choice.

We bought a Wii in Wal-Mart in November which also included controller, nunchuck and Wii Sports and cost $266 including tax. We do have do buy the games here to play on it, but that's not a problem as we are usually over at our villa several times a year.

Does an American Wii work fine? Are there any NTSC/PAL problems?

Provided you don't have an old TV you should have no problems with an NTSC signal.
