hello,
a question for you all, when i rip music or a audio cd, the further it gets down the list it slows right down..any ideas why??

Probably due to audio CDs spinning at slightly different speeds as they read data closer to the middle of the disc (it's called Constant Linear Velocity, as opposed to Constant Angular Velocity).

Oh, and regarding the title of the thread, I don't think ripping a commercial CD - even for your own use - is technically legal in the UK. Unless they've finally updated our arcane copyright laws with iPods/etc in mind, anyway. In the states it's regarded as "fair use" and is legal. I know it's pretty much a moot point though these days.

I think you are right about it not being legal but its not like they can charge everyone who does it because that would be a large percentage of the poulation of the UK! It is about time they change stupid laws like that

I thought it was ok to copy for your own use as long as you own the original... could be wrong :)
