Hi everyone
Does anyone have details of a bag that I can purchase that I wear around my waist/hips, but isn't a conventional 'bum bag'? I have a bag that goes across my shoulders but find after a certain amount of time I start fiddling with it as it starts to irritate. I dislike the look of bumbags, although can't fault their advantages, but wondered if anyone had any ideas for a more modern look?

What do you want to keep in it? Most outdoors shops and sites have huge variety of bum-bugs from the ultra-geeky Camelbaks with water bladder and drinking tube to Life Venture products, which are a bit more staid. They all look silly.
Have you considered that you might just have an uncomfortable rucksack? A good one is virtually unnoticeable. I use a very small (7l) runners pack, from Berghaus, round the parks, it is light and comfortable.

I've used a camera bag a few times, seems less silly looking than most bumbags, but does the same job and has lots of handy little pockets. It's also splashproof so quite good for wet rides.
Try the Kipling Multiple - it can be worn as a bumbag or a shoulder bag and of course has the cute little monkey on. Can be found on ebags.com - just put Kipling Multiple in the search box.
It has three zipped compartments and is also splash proof for the wet rides.
Try HERE (http://www.ebags.co.uk/kipling/multiple_waist_bag_convertible_to_shoulder_bag_spe cial_offer/product_detail/index.cfm?modelid=109255) they have 6 colours at reduced price at the moment

I've got one of these as well. There isn't a huge amount of space in it, but more than enough for what I will need to carry around the parks, (camera, purse, comb, etc.). I wouldn't be seen dead with a bum bag in this country, but they make life so much easier when in Florida, plus this one converts to a shoulder bag when needed and looks pretty good at the same time. :wavey:
I agree with Sue, the Kipling Multiple is great - I have a black and now a beige one (which I bought in the sale couple of weeks ago). Brilliant bag and great colours too. :D

Is that your black bag that you're wearing in the photo? :)

Hi
Are these bags available in any shops? I'd like to see what they look like and if they're comfy round the waist. It's all about the comfort!! ;)

I like the Kipling bag ; it's certainly a cooler version of a bumbag but having seen the picture it does look to me just like any bog standard shoulder bag that you shorten the strap on. If that's the case it's bloody expensive. I tend to use my cheap as chips small shoulder bag & just tighten the strap so it fits on my hips instead of my shoulder. The only downside is you have no clip to take it off quickly for loo breaks; you have to lengthen it & pull it over your head. The Kipling bag doesn't look like it's got a clip either. Does it?

Is that it? So it comes with a waist strap & a shoulder strap?

Debenhams stock Kipling, but you're best bet is QVC. They have a huge range.
I bought a bum bag from MGM a few years ago and I always use it in Orlando now. I wouldnt use one here, but it's so useful for keeping your hands free in the parks. Plus I dont have to worry about the straps of a bag/backpack irritating me in the heat or giving me tan lines.

Think the Kipling one is just a bag that can be worn around the waist. Kipling bags are very popular and always sell out, so they can pretty much charge what they like. I do have a few bags myself and they are pretty hardwearing.

Just forget the look & get a bum bag! They are SO convienient once on you don't have to worry about them or take them off. I do take mine off for wet rides.

It comes with two straps - the shoulder one that clips to the D rings at the side and a waist/bumbag strap with the 'quick release' clip for loo breaks as you put it. Easy to take on and off - I don't use it as a shoulder bag at all - have a small Radley across body bag for the evenings and leave the waist strap on all the time.

I've not seen any of these in the shops, but pretty sure you can return them with no problem to ebags. I've also seen them on Ebay, but they tend to go for near enough the RRP!

I would never been seen dead with a bum bag here, but bought a Kipling multiple bag for our first trip to orlando last year. It really was indispensable and in the end didn't care how I looked and i could fit loads in it. However it was expensive and I'm sure there are cheaper options about.

I don't usually like bum bags, but I bought an Everest one from the gift shop in Animal Kingdom looks a bit different. I wouldn't wear it anywhere else except Orlando though.

Another vote for the Kipling bumbag. Bought mine last year and wouldn't be without it :)

this is what i do aswell. i ripped my skirt the first year we went, on a bench at pirates cove mini golf  the rip was right across my bum    luckily my boyfriend spotted it and i had to try and hide it with our bag. just tightened the strap so it was comfy round my hips. i wore it like that for the rest of our hols.
