Internet Explorer on XP was brill, never any problems. IE on Vista is another matter. It's as if it's just lagging behind the site I want access too as I keep getting the "can't connect" message screen. As soon as I refresh, I get access. I have 2mb broadband (cable).
I downloaded a "free" diagnostic tool which said that my IE needed optimising in every area, and it would do so for $30. ( only the diagnosis was free )
So, does anyone know how to tweak IE manually and would be willing to show me how?
Thank ye kindly.
I haven't tried this so use at your own risk :)

What interesting and colourful characters occupy those forums.
What they said made sense, IE on vista downloads to industry standard, which is SLOW!!
So I followed the instructions and........WOWSERS!! to quote Insp Gadget.
Megafast page painting. Very impressive, you should try it Stu, your Commodore 64 should be able to take it. ;)
AND...I followed one of their links to the update centre and now I'm Beta testing Microsoft's "Silverlight" download software. Whoo hoo!
A result. Many thanks me old mate.
I just tried this and I'm glad I used System Restore first!. Increase in speed was pretty marginal but worse than that, some sites wouldn't show graphics and worse still, some (incl DIBB), wouldn't load at all!

They say that "Opera" is even faster. Anyone trying it?

Have used opera in the past its ok but takes some getting used to, you can actually download it as your browser on a Wii
Firefox is awesome and IE7 is modelled on it with tab browsing etc but not as good
its also without going into the technical reasons a lot lot safer than IE

We use Opera on the kids ancient pc (which is running Linux), I quite like it, it runs quickly and seems to work which is more than I can say for IE on that pc.
