Will they get more expensive closer to the time of departure or is it best to book them ASAP? ATM the ones I NEED are coming up around £900 for two adults. ( Which I am happier with , but if it means saving a bit , then I can wait)
Just priced up March and they come up at £600. Is that because of it being a bit later or just THE time of year?

Oh I don't know Ste - guess it will depend on who you want to fly with. I'm always too scared to wait to book my flights as I'm tied to certain dates so tend to book as soon as they are available. For next October I got some good prices from BA and they've gone up since. Maimi flights can sometimes be a couple of hundred £ cheaper than Orlanso so you just need to shop around but again if you've got your cruise date you'll have a bit of fleixibility round the date and you could have a couple of nights round Miami if necessary - get into the right time zone ;)

If it was worth the saving I would agree to a couple of nights in Miami for the justification of the flights. Hmmmmmmmm I'm not fussed who I fly with - Whoever I choose, it will have to be VIA somewhere. It's just where? US , AA , DL , Swiss , United, All come out the same price ( give or take a pound or two!) - It's probably just better times and nicer airports for connections.
I think I'll book on Thurrrrsday. Then the whole trip is complete! ( Hmm but then again , the hotel for the night before.. At least.. Fancy the Marriot Biscayne bay( is it?).)

Think it will be Delta! They arrive in Miami at 19.45pm - The rest don't arrive till well past 9. I'd rather get there when it's still earlyish - New place and all. Plus they are the cheapest. £469 each. ;)

Then again - £100 more each I can go with BA and be in Miami by 1.30pm!!!

May as well pay the extra £100 and get there at 1:30pm, at least you'll have time to relax, look around town and have a flying glimpse of Miami! I can't remember where the cruise ships leave from in Miami, but i'm sure they are some good hotels nearby!

what about AA, you could do direct flight out arriving at 2:30 and indirect back with free stopover somewhere

I didn't think they still did direct flights from Manchester? I can't find anything on their website , all via JFK.

Ste, you may want to check out my Christmas review I have just done.

http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=184814

We flew out of Manchester to Miami (via LHR) and then spent a few nights at the Marriott at Biscayne Bay before boarding the Freedom of the Seas (the sister of Liberty).

We flew BA and it was expensive, but it was Christmas. BA did mess up big style, BUT I am still glad we flew with them as the flight itself was good, and I much preferred connecting in UK than in US (where we would have had to have done immigration before 2nd flight).

Marriott at Biscayne Bay was excellent and would definitely stay there again. For the best price - cost up direct with them and then see if you can get cheaper (we did with hotelopia). If you book direct with marriott and then find cheaper somewhere else, they will match that price PLUS give you an additional 25% discount. We ended up paying $116 per night.

Very jealous of you doing Liberty - we had the BEST time on Freedom and would do it again in a heartbeat!

Getting back to your flights, when we booked ours I checked all flights available through Expedia, as the times were more important to us than the final cost. Personally we wanted to arrive in Miami as early as possible (didn't happen unfortunately), and bearing in mind you are off the cruise at approx 7am, you want to be flying home as early as possible (although we did do Everglades with RCI to kill some time which was good).

Also I would strongly recommend flying in a few days early. First, you get chance to spend time in Miami which is fab and you also get more adjusted to the time difference before you get on the cruise.

Any more questions, feel free to ask.

We are flying Newcastle - Heathrow - Miami over the Easter hols. We paid £1380 for the 3 of us, which is much cheaper than the charters from Manchester were coming in at! :wavey:

You didnt say when in Sept you're cruising but randomly looking the prices are high. ANd considering its off season due to prime hurricane season I'm surprised. Could it be reduced flights or fuel costs?

Have you tried getting your flights through RC?
