I have an all singing all dancing computer upstairs in the *ahem* library ;) but it means as a dibb addict i'm stuck up stairs while Dh is downstairs.
i'd love a laptop just for dibbing, going on b*bo etc, is it a false economy to get a cheapo one ( i've seen a wee cutie for £399), i do need it to actually DO anything......opinions please :confused2

Hi Myra,

DH got me one about a year ago so I could sit with him in the living room instead of being in the office dibbing as he said he never saw me of an evening

We just got a cheap one fom PC World - it's an Acer and it has been absolutely fine on the wireless. It can be a little bit slow if you want to download a big file but to be honest I only use it for Dibbing, sending mails and looking up sites for holiday planning etc so it has been absolutely fine.

I have managed to wear the paint off the left click button through over-use! But nothing apart form that!!

Think you should treat yourself Myra ;)

Pam.

DS saved up his paper-round money a couple of years ago and bought a "Medion" out of Woolies, well used on Bebo, MSN, Youtube etc. (oh and homework ;) )and never had a bit of trouble with it.

You'll always find someone who has had issues with any computer, but for he money his has been a cracking wee buy.

Cheers

DD uses a cheap Acer laptop at Uni, according to her it's indestructable having been dropped a few times, sat on and generally abused as only students know how ;)

Just to give you a heads up Tesco are doing triple Clubcard points on Dell PCs and laptops today. Today might be the day to buy if you are considering one.

My wife has a "cheapo" Acer, bought nearly 3 years ago. She plays games on it and surfs the web and it's been absolutely fine.

I'm using an Acer Aspire 3690, bought for £299 last August from Currys. I love mine and use it all the time.

hiya myra, love the "ahem" library  our desktop is downstairs in the "ahem" study, library and study sound so much better than the computer room doesn't it........... :D

lesley got a acer extensa 4220, we added a bit more memory to it at work. used it for her uni project, now she uses it fior dibbing and everyday stuff. cheapest one of the range when she got it, does it job, not the fastest but its ok.

We bought one in Orlando before christmas for $600 in best buy and for that price we got a lot of upgrades with it, Doubled our memory and a few other bits.

It is so good we will be getting another one when we return. There is always a queue in our house to use the computer so the laptop has been a god send.
