Hi, Have just bought 2 park 1 day express tickets for us/ioa for $40.99 +tax. Direct from Universal site didnt think it was bad as no queueing for our visit this year. :ccat

i think i am right if like the tickets we bought last year they only allow 1 ride on each (they mark your ticket) - unlike staying on site which gives as many as you wantbut still better than queueing have a great time

It depends a little as to how many people you would have in the room. Our family of 5 would cost $205 + tax for one days Express Pass. Staying on site in a family room is only slightly more expensive, but gives two days express - and the pass you get is better than the one you buy (and you get to stay in a nice hotel, and only pay one lot of parking, and get a boat to the parks etc).

If there are only two of you going, or are not interested in a 2nd day, then maybe Express Pass is still the better option.

we used them on both occasions we visited US/IOA recently...the only time the cards were marked was at spiderman(both times) and the mummy (the 1st time only)..so effectivly we could have gone on any of the other rides again

whether or not the mark the tickets seems to depend on who is at the gate.....ours were always marked at the Mummy but never men in black for example.

:( when i was there christmas 2006 they marked the tickets at every ride - probably busy times are worse :(

we had them at back in August and they never got marked apart from Jimmy Neutron so we was able to ride everthing over again via the Express line

I think its just a case of luck of the draw and whos on the ride at that particular time of day

I think these tickets are fair as a benefit for people staying in there hotels but should not just be on sale to anyone.

Where you looking for hotel?
$244+tax for loews end July direct with universal. Maybe I picked cheaper night?

Its really worth buying an AP if you want to stay onsite, I get email every 2 months offering rooms at $120. and AP's only cost $99/year to renew.
Never need front of line access though. early starts and single riders for us, never a problem.

i see where you are coming from and i agree. i also think that they should just have fastpass the same as disney and it should be free.
saying that i would still pay for them to avoid standing in line for hours on end on busy days like mardi gras.

the tickets we bought were for end july. a price at a universal hotel was $400 is a nght. the express ticket was $160 for 4.I only paid $240 for the hotel in early August, and its still available now for not much more. Also, one night in the hotel gives you FOLP pass for 2 days, so you need to double up (I presume your $160 is the $40.99+tax daily rate?)...so total cost for you, for comparison, will be nearer to $350.

Lastly....the Express Pass for a number of days in July & August is $50.99+tax, so may cost as much as $430 for 2 days.

Add in that you get to spend a night in a really nice hotel...and get a boat direct to the park entrance....and only pay for one days parking....and get a free gift if you are a Loews member....and it really is a no brainer!
