Does anyone know of any good scrapbooking shops in the Kissimmee area. We are going in April and DW is well into it.
I love Scrapbooking. I have been told there is a Jo Anns superstore in Kissimmee and I think AC Moores have a shop. Try their websites but I think looking at both Jo Anns is better. I went to a Michaels store the last time and it was very good. It was just off I Drive. I have a list of things I want to get and everyday I add a little bit more on. My DD 8 now has a list as well because she loves and is encouraging her friend whose family are also going with us to start. Scrapbooks on the website are approx $6 can you believe the prices and there is such a variety. I also got a few things last time from Walmart. All the paper packs are cheap but then are quite heavy to bring home. I love looking at their websites

Hi
Jo-Ann's on the 192 is fantastic - I spend a good couple of hours in there every visit.
I discovered Michael's at The Loop (Osceola Pkwy) a couple of days ago, but didn't have time for a really good look around.
Walmart have quite a large selection of scrapbooking stuff now.

Does anybody know if there is one in DTD? I vaguely remember hearing this.

There is a shop in DTD but everything they sell there is also sold in the parks. To be honest, I was quite disappointed in it.
There are a number of scrapbooking shops in the Orlando area, depending on how keen your wife is, and how far you wish to travel. The 'best' one is in St. Petersburg (apparantly, I've never been allowed to go that far)
There is one called Scrappy Boutique which is at the Florida Mall and is probably the easiest to get too. And another called memory Avenue which is on Hoffner Ave and not far from the airport.
Also chain stores
Joann's, Michaels and ACMoore are all in Orlando.

There is a list of shops on UKScrappers (http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/showthread.php?t=194563&highlight=Orlando)
I would double check any details before you travel, as I they can go out of business etc, but a good starting point.
Whim-so-doodle, and Ruban Rouge are the ones I keep hearing about.
MouseMemories is just off the 192 in Kissimmee and is very easy to find and is quite a big store with loads of disney/florida stuff as well as general scrapbooking stuff. The people who run it are very helpful and it was all packaged for me as they would post it so it was very easy to transport home without bending everything! Directions are on their website.

Hi there - you might also want to try the Disney outlet shop at Lake Buena Vista as they have a scrapbook/craft section at the back of the shop and they are very reasonably priced :)

As a fellow UK Scrapper and a DIBBer, if you could only go to one or two shops, which ones would it be?

I love creating lasting memories of our holidays to Florida, however I am ashamed to say I have never looked at scrapbooking. Following reading this thread I think I may be hooked :d: , however not sure where you start :confused2 . Have any of you got any pictures you could post so I could get an idea as I think I am going to have fun giving this a go, especially the shopping ;)
Thanks All

Scrapbooking is big in US, so just get an album in one of the shops and convert what you have been doing already onto the pages. You can buy themed papers and bits to get started. i.e dogs or cats, holidays, Christmas etc. with co-ordinating backing papers, ribbons and stick ons. There are no rules, just have a go.

Just a word of warning with the cheaper scrapbooks some are not true 12x12 so if this is an issue for you I suggest taking a bit of 12x12 cardstock and testing before you buy (if it is not plastic wrapped)

dont forget to pick up leaflets that you can use to add decoration to your Florida scrapbook pages - e.g. Disney, Seaworld, Kennedy space etc.
My 2 favourite shops for scrapbooking are Joanns on 192 (turn left from 535 coming from LBV), and Walmarts who have a good selection of embellishments. Oh, I forgot Michaels and AC Moore. Oh, I forgot Scrapbook Boutique, on the Terrace behind Florida Mall.
In fact, i go to them all, several times!

There is a scrapbooking Expo at the Orange County Convention Centre held on 28th and 29th March 2008. We get there on 30th March, so will miss it, but others may be there.

There is a Jo-Ann shop at the new Winter Park Village shopping area which is up the new US429 toll road. It looks like a really big place and had just opened when we were there in October. Link for the shopping village is here (http://www.wintergardenvillage.com/shopping.html)
May be useful depending on where you're staying.

Any Dibbers going to the Ally Pally show in April? Peter, myself and Peter's mum will all be there so it would be good to say hi.

That is actually Winter Garden and not Winter Park. JoAnne's does have a good selection and you can find them in several locations. 192 has a nice shop and I find the selection is better because it isn't as picked over by the locals (meaning me! lol) because it is in the tourist district.

Oops! Sorry for any confusion. The link is correct - just got my parks & gardens mixed up. Our friends live just across from the new shopping village and we're looking forward to it being more fully open this trip.
I fear yet another senior moment!

It is me who is the card maker/scrapbooker not my Gill. My mum has taken it up in the last couple of years. If anyone is going to Ally Pally we could recognise each other by wearing some Dibb stuff (I have a cap and a badge).
Anyone going.
