If you fancy the snow North Conway in New Hampshire, our ds13 and ds10 really enjoyed learning to ski and snowboard.

I would recommend a ski holiday.

If not, our DD thoroughly enjoyed our trip to St Lucia in the Caribbean (in fact we all did ;) ). Loads to do at the resort - in the water, out of the water, entertainment etc.

We did California in 2004 ss part of a multi-centre (through United Vacations - stopovers were free as long a you took at least 2 night hotel stay at each location with them) including NYC, California, Vegas and Orlando.

We stayed in a fairly bog standard days inn/ travel inn motel in Anahiem - Location was great 5 mins from Knotts Berry and fairly accessible for most places.

Load of things to do

2 X Disney parks
Knotts Berry Farm theme park
Universal Studios
6 Flags Theme Park
Hollywood, Walk of Fame, Manns Theatre etc.
Short drive to beaches as seen in Baywatch etc.
Visited the Anaheim Angels Baseball Stadium (no game on at the time)

We also drove down to San Diego to the Zoo (they also have Sea World in SD)

IMO it does require quite bit of driving but found it not much different from Orlando for driving.

Hollywood and the walk of fame etc. was a little bit grotty with a kinda Blackpool feel too it and the Hollywood sign was very disapointing but other than that loved the area and would love to go back for a proper holiday maybe see if we can get a nice house or Villa rather than a hotel.

Would definetely recommended it.
