Have any of you visited Smyrna Beach, Florida? We have been told it's well worth a visit.

It is a quiet beach town and it is a favorite of mine. I grew up in Orlando and that would be our beach of choice and still is. There isn't a lot to do as far as the town goes but it is a good option for a beach. Try having a meal at Breakers....it is a local favorite. I have friends that go there every Wednesday.

I am planning on a trip there in August. Where is Breakers? On the beach?

Also can you get a boat trip here, esp to see dolphins etc?

Yes, they are on the beach. 518 Flagler Avenue to be exact. They have great reviews on Trip Advisors (http://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g34471-d426772-Reviews-Breakers-New_Smyrna_Beach_Florida.html) if you want to take a look. They are popular for their burgers but all of the food seems to be good.

Sorry, I meant to tell you about a boat tour as well. Take a look at this website (http://www.marinediscoverycenter.org/ecotours.htm) for some tour information. The tour guides are extremely knowledgable and give a great tour. I believe another dibber has posted about this tour but it has been some time ago. You might be able to find it by using the search feature. I will look as well.

We love New Smyrna beach and always visit but then my Aunt and Uncle live just down the road in Edgewater!
Sadly over the last few years the hurricanes and bad weather have eroded away a lot of the beach and at high tide there isnt much.
The other thing to be aware of is the rip-tides and currents it can be quite dangerous at times ,try to go to a part were there is a life guard if you are swimming
