Hi, I've waited with anticipation for the "February announcement" about kids free tickets but nothing here yet!! Anyone have any inside knowledge when it's likely to be announced? Thanks

Eagerly awaiting (and dreading!) this announcement too!

Knowing my luck, I can almost guarantee it would of been cheaper for me to get the old offer (2park/7days) than whatever the new offer is....! :pgig:

Hope its good value whatever it is!.... :thumbs-up

what do you think anouncment is about

There was a thread earlier in the year, where somebody had phonesd Universal and was told to watch out for "a special deal/offer in February" - or words to that effect!!....

....thus "we are watching" (allllllways watching....!! :pgig: Roz Digs!)

I would think it will be the same as last year which was one free kids ticket for every adult 3 day (two park) ticket or 5 day (three park incl W&W) ticket.
These were valid 14 days from first use.

Great if you have kids as they will save money even over the 7 day 2 park ticket and give an extra week to spread out your visits to Universal (even though you get less days in total).

Last year I bought the 5 day ticket (only used 4 days of it over two weeks) which was still a bargain at £65 for adults and kids free.

I presume that when you say "kids" you are referring to Universal's definition of kids as 3-9 year olds.....   !!!!!

I still like to think of my 10, 12 & 14 year old's as kids (they certainly don't pay housekeeping!!). Pity that the parks don't see it quite the same way!

I wonder, once it's announced, if this would work out cheaper than buying a flex ticket for each of us? Ordinarily we'd have been buying a 14day 4 park flex ticket to cover US, IOA and Seaworld....hmm...will have to keep an eye on this. I take it it'll be announced on the www.universalorlando.co.uk (http://www.universalorlando.co.uk/) link

Good football shirts though. At least they're classed as kids at the Emirates (if your in the family enclosure anyway).

Last year I did this plus a one day ticket (1 day free) to Seaworld 'Be a kid again promotion' and it was definitely cheaper than the four park ticket.
£65 each for two adults (kids free) plus about £110 for Seaworld for all of us. Happy days.

:erm: WOW...I hadn't looked at it like that - if we get 4 park flex tickets for all four of us for this year, they alone will cost about £430...we don't spending anything like 14 days at US, IOA or Seaworld - so, if we buy them as you've suggested we could save a good bit of money... :thumb:

Well this year you'd be looking at £68 for adult 5 day tickets to Universal/WetnWild and kids free (hopefully).

Then you could buy Seaword and Aquatica ,length of stay tickets, for $340+tax (about £190) and for two adults and two children you could see five parks for about £330.

So many options. And then there's still Disney to see.

They often have special deals in January and February but I certainly haven't heard of any announcement of free child's tickets.

The only February offer I have heard of this month is the Mardi Gras special on Power Passes.

I can see what will happen I think, from our family point of view (2Ad, 2Ch, 1x10yr old (Doh!)-

If you book now, you will get a good price for 7 DAYS :thumbs-up

It you leave it and wait for any offer that materializes, chances are it may be a bit cheaper, but for LESS days!.

i.e. Im damned if I do, and damned if I dont :confused2

Does anyone know if the childs ticket I bought off Ebay months ago will work. Im not sure if it was the promotion where you get the FREE child ticket with an adult ticket as I only purchased the childs ticket from them.
The ticket I have says its a Multi-Day Ticket 3 Park 5 Day Universal/IOA & wet n wild incl. citywalk and also says Kids Free Promo.

The ticket date says 02/01/07 which must be when it was printed. I am planning on using it in March this year.

I have read somewhere that the promotion that Universal did with the buy an adult ,get a childs ticket free would have to be used at the same time, so does anyone know if the ticket I have would have been a deal like that . Im confused :confused2

14 Feb 08, 04:45 PM
The ticket was probably part of the 2007 offer which lasted up to March 2007 (I think) technically the ticket is only valid with the adult ticket it was purchased with (written on the ticket's back) but I doubt you will have any problems as no-one who used them last year reported any problems.
I don't believe the Universal tickets expire.

Hi spoony, on the back of the ticket it just says expires 14 days from first use and just says Kids Free Promo and doesn't say that must be used with an adult ticket. I just hope it works coz it will be a bit embarrassing being turned away.

I think the whole thing is just a rumor. I know I haven't heard anything at all about any big surprise discount offers in February.

From what I understand the rumor started because a team member mentioned on the phone that there might be special ticket offers in February. I seriously doubt that she/he would have any inside knowledge about a ticket special. They aren't given that information months in advance, for reasons such as this. She was probably just remembering the year past. But that means nothing as the year before last, the best ticket deals were announced in January.

The 7 day tickets are an excellent deal. The kids free deal was for 5 day tickets and the adult tickets cost more than the 7 day tickets which are offered now.

too was waiting for the free kids tickets (last year they were announced on Universal site 6th Jan) but decided with the Universal and ww for 5 days to go for it. Ticket cost on Universal site with postage for 3 adult and 2 kids tickets + pp was £370 according to sites currency convertor, but I got them from Attraction Tickets Direct for £335.

I realise might kick myself if deal now announced but I'm happy to have saved £35 on this option.

No I didn't have an expiry on mine from last year either, however, I do remember a proviso on the ticket that it had to be used with the adult ticket purchased at the same time.
Doubt if it is ever checked but its worth being aware of.

I'd hate to be the bearer of bad news (and I hope I'm wrong on this) but I suspect that the tickets had to be used by 31 December 2007.

If this was a kids ticket which was free as part of the "buy 1 adult ticket, get 1 kids ticket free" deal last year, then I'm 99.9% sure that it did have to be used by 31 December 2007.

Universal offered this deal for at least the last 2 years (from early January to 30 April 2007 and for the same period in 2006). I know as I bought tickets in both periods:smile:

As said, I'm 99.9% certain that in both deals they had to be used before the end of the year - when ordering them (I got mine direct from Universal - the UK site I think too) the small print clearly said they had to be used by 31 December.

I sold my spare 2 tickets on Ebay myself (had half expected to go a second time later in the year but couldn't afford it) and made it very clear in the auction of this fact. It annoyed me as quite a few people were selling these "free" kids tickets on Ebay without pointing this out, which I thought was really wrong as knowingly selling tickets with a short expiry date is out of order - imagine getting to the gate and having your tickets refused!:mad2:

So I would suggest a phone call to Universal about this. Explain that you have them spare from last year (and that you had bought them as part of the BOGOF deal) and just want to check they can be used this year.

Sorry to worry you guys about this but I figure it's best to clear this up before you go:erm:

Just an update on my previous posts. I've checked back my emails and see that I actually bought them from ATD (Dibb sponsor) and not Universal (D'oh - memory going!).

As I said, I'm 99.9% sure that they were to be used by 31 December, so I think it would be a good idea to check with ATD as they're very knowledgeable & helpful.

Martha,

I don't know if you're referring to the BOGOF deal (1 adult + 1 child free) but this offer isn't on this year. But you can still get some good offers. Try the Dibb sponsor ATD (http://www.attraction-tickets-direct.co.uk/) as they're very reliable, quick and you get "real" tickets!:spin:

And I see you're going on your first trip soon? Wow, you are all gonna love it and if I were you, I'd get yourself some Disney tickets direct from Disney where you can buy 10 day tickets plus an add on charge for unused days never expire as believe me, you're going to be going back again (and more than once I'd guess!). They (ATD) also do a deal which ends today where you can buy 14 day Disney tickets for the price of 7 days. The tickets expire 14 days after first use so have a look at them too - assuming you haven't got them already.

Have a wonderful time!

Like us, we went once back in 1992 before kids and it was fun. But it took another 9 years (and 2 kids) before we went again. I have to say that going with kids is 100 times more enjoyable (and 100 times more tiring!:erm:) and you will have a fantastic time!

I would think most people buy their tickets in advance. We bought them once over there (long story - basically we (or should I say the missus:rolleyes:) forgot our tickets!!:nonono:) and they did cost us more than if we'd bought before going.

I would seriously suggest that you get them before you go and as I mentioned, ATD are doing an offer which finishes today where you get 7 days at Disney, plus 7 free - all to be used within 14 days of first using. Unused days for these tickets cannot be upgraded to "never expire".

You can buy tickets from ATD (or elsewhere in the UK) which can be upgraded once there at the parks (I think they're called 'ultimate' tickets), but the cost is around $100 per ticket. This will mean that any days you don't use will be valid forever until you use them.

Alternatively, you can buy tickets direct from Disney online where you can choose up to 10 days, with park hopper option (go from park to park on any given day and still only classed as one day used), water park option and unused days converted to never expire option. This would be a good idea if you thought you'd be going back again sometime (you will..............). Picking this option will save you money in the long run, but they're not cheap!

Anyway, have fun choosing and enjoy your holiday!

Oh, and one more tip (which you may know about) - make sure you do the "Photopass" thing at Disney, where you get all the photos taken by Disney staff added onto a card and you can then buy the card/CD/pics at the end of the holiday - works out much cheaper if you get a lot of pics taken - I've heard of people getting several hundred on one card! Just search the site for info on this - invaluable especially if you've got kids.
