We went to see it couple of years ago. It's brilliant. The atmosphere is wonderful and the cars are gorgeous. We'd recommend it. :d::d:

Yes, definitely recommend it!
Old Town doesn't always get the best reviews, but we love it, and always visit a couple of times during our holiday.
We think it has a great atmosphere, especially on the car nights.
We usually go and have a game of black light crazy golf, and have a go on the nascar simulators, and not forgetting G-Force and the worlds tallest sky coaster!!

There's shops and bars and live entertainment, all sorts going on!
Take a look at my trip report below from last April as we went twice last year!
Can't wait to go again this April..! :spin:

hi thanks for quick replies - will TRY to fit it in! Had a quick look at your 2007trip reports - couldn't believe the size of your burgers @ Fuddruckers WOW! My DH cant wait to try one - are there lots of Fuddruckers in orlando?

We've been a couple of times, if you like cars then it's a great night out. We found the owners were really happy to chat about their vehicles and a real friendly bunch. Old Town hasn't had a great reputation for a while but we've never encountered any trouble apart from finding a parking space!

yeah we've visited a couple of times and agree with all of the above. And my DH is into motorbikes, which are on a thursday night if you're interested. Although they dont have a drive past, just park in the car park at the back, but hey if you're into motorbikes!!!!

We love Old Town, so much so we stayed next door to it last May. It was great, a couple of minutes walk and we were in the thick of it!! We could all have a drink without worrying about anyone having to drive. I prefer the Saturday Night cruise as it has the older cars and they are beautifully restored. Here some photos:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/mousemad/100_0377.jpg
Your allowed to walk round and look at the cars before the cruise starts.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e28/mousemad/100_0370.jpg
The owners will tell you all about their car!!

This is a bit blurred, but you can see the Slingshot and i think they the call the other thing Skyrider?. Theres lots of shops (What i always call nik-nak shops with unusual stuff!) and places to eat, plus all the funfare and it has a big Ferris Wheel too!!

Don't forget the live bands, line-dancing (if you can do it) and the Salt Water Taffy shop where they do gorgeous Peanut Butter Fudge. Parking can be a problem so get there early.

Only found out where Old Town actually was on the second last day of our last trip. Look forward to getting down there on our next trip. The shops were really unusual with lots of variety and the parade of cars should be great.

Always enjoy Old Town. Very handy for having a few beers - also, Checkers burgers at the top end are my favourite burgers in Orlando!

Bike night on a thursday is pretty good as well.

It has to be Saturday night for us everytime, Friday is more for the boy racers.
Like mentioned, Thursday is for bikes and theres generally a few hundred of them.
Old Town for us has the feel of a State Fair to it [ been to one of those too], its not Disney in any form but the atmosphere is great and you get to mix with the locals.

theyre building a resort just behind old town called Regal Oaks. Think its affiliated with Regal Palms and is villas and townhouses i think, although i'd have to win the lottery to afford one. I think someone on here has one there.

Seems like I might be in the minority here but I was not bowled over by Old Town. Each year I have gone I have found it to be less and less inviting, to the point where I now think it's a bit rowdy and intimidating. I was certainly a bit wary hanging around after dark and didn't feel all that safe.

Hi. We went last August as DH wanted to go. It was on a Sat night though, I think the Sat night one is much bigger and longer. It was a great night and fun seeing all the cars on he parade. I agree it is a great atmosphere and something a little different. Hope you can fit it in. Its worth it.

Never been on a Friday night but love the Saturday Night Car Cruise.

I have neever been to a state fair but would imagine that it is very much like one - a great carnival atmosphere.

Been to Old Town every visit at least once, so between 20-25 times. If you are there Haloween most shops participate in trick or treat.
Still not managed to see Bike night but car nights are brilliant.

I was certainly a bit wary hanging around after dark and didn't feel all that safe.

We were warned of this last June when we went. I have to be honest and advise there was nothing to worry about! We had 2 juniors (a teen and a pre-teen) and an OAP in our party and no problems to speak of.

Well, unless you count the fact that the kids had no interest in classic cars, the superb atmosphere and oldies music.

As advised on here, we got there very early for ease of parking - we will return one day without kids. Thoroughly recommend it as an alternative to Disney & parks, or perhaps I should say in addition to ;)

Bike night is Thursday! They arent allowed to drive them around as in the car cruise as police dont allow it for some reason, but you can walk around them all and talk to the owers.

Some Saturday nights are busier than others because they have a special cruise going on. I've been to the regular cruise and on special nights. Parking is always a challenge but it can be harder on the special cruise nights. We went last Saturday and I ended up parking across the street in one of the shopping area car parks. It actually worked out for the best and made leaving a lot easier. Of course, cross the street at the traffic light unlike some other risk takers that crossed wherever they wanted.

The rides that they have are very much like our fairs and festivals. Both our Florida Strawberry Festival (http://www.flstrawberryfestival.com/) and our Central Florida Fair (http://www.centralfloridafair.com/) are coming up soon if you want to give them a go.

Like anywhere, I think common sense safety applies when going to these places. Nowhere is a guarantee so take the precautions that are necessary to keep you and your family out of harms way. It really is a fun night out!

.....worth noting that my family was just here visiting and they liked Old Town so much they went back during the week. They said it was like a ghost town and that Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday certainly are the nights to go if you are going for the busy atmosphere.

Old Town is fab. We had caricatures done there which is always fun, and they did look realistic.
The lady who serves in the cafe is originally from Hull, I think she said that she`d been living there for 20 years, and has no intention of coming back to UK. (neither would I given the choice).

We went and got some fish & chips at the new shop & got talking to the guy. We asked him if he knew how to make scraps and he laughed and said the 1st time a brit asked him for them he had no idea what they were!! He said the owner is british and he showed him how to make them. We really enjoyed our fish & chio qith scraps and DSIL used to manage a fish & chip shop and said they were excellent!!

Love Old Town, we have gone every year we have been to Florida. There is just something about it.....

We went to the car night last year on our last Saturday night there...just great, they had dedicated the parade to a young local boy who had been killed in a hit and run accident, he had been a huge fan of the saturday night parade and his parents were given a car to ride in on the parade.... very emotional

Will always make a point of going here.....just great....

Mishka, you need to let us all know how you like the place when you return. I do remember a Dibber having purchased a property on there, and we did see it being built last July. Its the same owners as Regal Palms at Highlands Reserve, so should be pretty good.

We stayed at Barefoot'n in the Keys last May, which is next to Old Town, literally 2 minutes walk! We had a 2 bed unit which you get a downstairs 1 bed with full kitchen, sofabed in loumge etc... & 1 bed upstairs with part-kitchen, huge master bedroom & bathroom plus another sofabed in lounge. I would stay there again, it was lovely & we booked it through our RCI points.
They had started building Regal Oaks & when i got home i had a look at the website, looks very nice.
