Hi,

I've just looked on NASA website and theres a space shuttle launch scheduled for the 11th of March at 2.30am EDT

I was just wondering if we would see anything from International Drive area? Or would we have to head nearer (to be honest im not 100% sure how safe it'd be drving around that time of the morning)

Thanks
Rob

It really depends on what the weather and what the clouds are like but typically you do see the shuttle and the large smoke trail. I often watch it leave the pad on tv and then walk out the door to see it from my front yard.

If you can go over you won't regret it because it really is something to see.

If the weather is fine you can get a great view from that area, but nothing beats being close enough to hear it too.

I really want to go - but its a 230am (ie. morning) launch - Im not too keen on driving at that time of the night.

Anyone done a night launch?

The night launches that I've gone to have been the best I've seen. It is truly amazing how much the sky is lit up when it takes off. It generally has a louder sound.

Having said that it does make for a very long ride back if for some reason the launch is scrubbed. I always tell our visitors to not plan to see a launch as it can be disappointed. When it goes off without a delay look at it as a bonus and you will be truly glad you went.

Hi Rob,

We are planning on doing the launch on the 11th and driving back. It's only me and hubby. I never even once considered it dangerous driving back at that time. Can't wait to see it.
