we am visiting disney for the first time in july for our honeymoon/ kids birthdays with our two kids aged 7 and 3. On my sons birthday i have booked a table for the cinderella's table at lunch but am stuck for something to do in the evening, ive booked a fantisimo (probably spelt wrong sorry!) package for another night but am looking for other ideas with or without including eating. does anyone have any ideas?

Try having Dinner in EPCOT and staying for the fireworks
Our ds aged 6 was so shattered and ratty in the evenings in December that we gave up planning things, and just went back to our apartment and put him to bed.
Evening meal was at 6pm at the very latest.
It might be an idea to have a nap for them in the afternoon if you want them to keep on going. This is what we did for our son when we went to see the Epcot fireworks at 9pm one night.
McDonalds Bistro on I-Drive is not too bad. The food is much better than here, and the kids enjoyed playing upstairs and on the machines that gave you tickets to exchange for prizes if you won. Not expensive and the kids loved it much more than we did!! He still talks about it now, and wants to go back the next time we go in October.
Hi :wavey:
There are lots of places to visit at night, you can either just go to have a stroll around & have a look in the shops and take in the astmosphere or have a meal.
Disney's Boardwalk (This is behind the hotel and has Free Parking but you do need to show ID - This is a wonderful place and one of my favourites ! Great ESPN Sports Bar - tv's showing all different sports everywhere you look). You can walk or bike ! around a large lake, and its also a good place to see Epcot fireworks.

Downtown Disney - This is great to visit at night, there are many restaurants and shops to browse around http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/moreMagic/moreMagicLanding?id=DTDLandingPage
Celebration (A really pretty place - There a few shops, and lovely restaurants & coffee shops, it also has a cinema. There is a large lake that you can have a stroll around, and rocking chairs if you feel like watching the world go by) http://www.celebrationfl.com
My son always enjoys a trip to the Crazy golf after we have had tea.
I'm sure you will have a fabulous time, Disney is such a magical place for the chidren (and us mum's and Dad's ;) )
Memories that will last a lifetime
thanks!
any ideas which restaurants to use in epcot for the fireworks?
thanks, i hadn't even heard of celebration!

Have you checked the park hours for July? You will find that the parks are open until at least 10pm and sometimes as late as 1am, you probably don't need to look for evening entertainment. Maybe a better plan is to have a break and eat your main meal at lunchtime when it is nice to get out of the heat and sit down for a while, then enjoy an evening in the parks.
My ds aged 6 is car mad and he really enjoyed the lunch we had at the Nascar Restaurant at Universal Citywalk. You could, of course, always do this for an evening meal too.
His favourite meal (unfortunately for us!!) was the Ponderosa as he could just help himself to what he wanted (he loved the shrimp and the salad bar) and felt very grown up.
thanks for the help! my little boy is also car mad so nasca sounds fab! i have had a look on some other postings and some people have mentioned the rose and crown to see the fireworks from in epcot. ive had a look on the disney website and this looks like a pub so is this the right one? by the way what is ds short for?

The kids will get really hot and tired so it maybe worth having lunch and then go back to the hotel and then go back to the park in the evening.you could also go to Downtown Disney in the evening and maybe eat at the Rainforest Cafe, or go and play crazy golf. Make sure your son is wearing some birthday badges when you visit the MK because everyone will make a fuss and he will get some surprises as he walks around

i was thinking of maybe trying to get the kids to have an afternoon nap so we can see the fireworks at night. do you know what the staff are like at the hotels? i have booked the grand floridian because its such a special occasion and i rang to ask about flowers/balloons (bithrday+ just married) and maybe a bottle of champage to be put in our room as a suprise for hubby/kids but the woman was really short with me and said i would have to ring the disney florists. to be honest im starting to worry about the style of service there. any advice?

I would say that you were probaly really unlucky because generally they are fantastic,we mentioned once when checking in that it was our sons birthday on a certain date , on his birthday we went back to our room and there was balloons and a card from Goofy. I suggest you ring the hotel and ask to speak to a supervisor or Manager and explain that its your first time at Disney and what a special occasion it is.Explain that you are worried about the arrangements and I am positive everything will be ok.
If you are staying at the Grand Floridian it is absolutley perfect for visiting MK early in the morning and going back to the hotel for a sleep and then going back again

We have booked dinner in the California Grill to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary when we go in April. We are going to be there while Wishes is on (the MK fireworks). Have a look on Youtube or somewhere like that - there have been loads of people posting clips. You can get to see the fireworks with the music and commentary as well. However, with a 6 year old don't be surprised to find that they simply refuse to have a nap in the afternoon - mine never did. In fact, mine stayed up longer than we did some nights!!! Kids will never do what you want them to sometimes!

What about something like Mickey's Backyard BBQ at Fort Wilderness. It's a rustic outdoor bbq, one of their dinner shows so food is provided plus loads of characters and lots of fun. I took my 5 year old neice and she loved it.

Rose and Crown is great if you get a table on the lake as the view of the fireworks is great but I have to say I have never enjoyed the food in there and always find the service to be poor.
My favourite Epcot restaurants are Le Cellier (Canada), Teppan Edo (Japan) and San Angel Inn (Mexico). If you booked a table for 7pm you would be finshed in plenty of time to find a good spot for the fireworks at 9pm. I think Mexico and Canada are great spots to watch the fireworks from anyway - if you still have room after dinner you can enjoy a beer and popcrn (Canada) or a yummy churro and margarita (Mexico)!!!
