Opening times at Disney

I have just read that the characters open the parks each morning.
Is this true and if so, I have never seen them:(
Am I getting the opening times right or maybe not in the right place or maybe I'm just a little dim:confused:
Help!!! I'm being overwhelmed by all the notes I have to make:eek:
Little things like this will make the boys really happy ( and a few brownie points for me as well)

yes they do at the MK and AK now as well; at the MK they all arrive on the train while you wait at the turnstiles and there is a nice little performance with the Mayor as well;

How much before the gates open does this happen?
