It is a charity that will give grants for things like holiday, driving lessons, washing machines etc.
It is for children up to and including 15 years of age. It is means tested.
here are the details Jane http://www.familyfund.org.uk/newsite/default.asp
Caroline, they are not looking for anything in particular they come to talk about what they can do to help and to confirm that you still meet their criteria, they came to me last year he was very nice, we had a chat a cuppa and he asked to see DLA award letters

thanks to money from the govt the age limit is going up to possibly 17yrs :thumbs-up
From 1 April, the Fund will be able to help families living in England who have a severely disabled son or daughter aged 16. This extension of our age range is thanks to a grant announced by the Secretary of State, Ed Balls, as part of the Government's Children's Plan. Applicants will need to fulfil the same criteria that covers families with 0-15 year olds, including not having been helped by the Fund in ther 12 months prior to this application. We are delighted to have received the £8.4 million. This will enable us to help 17 year olds as well, but not until 2009/2010, at the earliest, as the money is to cover the three years 008-2011 and is being introduced in a phased way.

You'll be fine. its a regular process. I was with a family and they actually came up with more than the family asked for and thought of things in a different way that met their needs better than I or family had come up with.

What a great charity. Just a pity that charities like this need to make the difference. Government should be giving so much more help but I am glad to see they have started to recognise this.

...the Fund will be able to help families living in England who have a severely disabled son or daughter aged 16.
Just to clarify, I thought the fund was available to people across the whole of the UK, not just England. Please correct me if I'm wrong! :)
looking at that website, it suggests they help all of the UK's under 15 year olds, but only Englands 16 year olds.
