Hi
Have never really ventured outside of Disney to eat, mainly because we don't drive, but want to try a steakhouse or typical American buffet type place. What are the Ponderosa / Sizzler places like? Worth a visit? Buffet? Or would you steer clear?? :confused2
Thanks

Never tried Ponderosa or Sizzler, but would definately recommend Outback steakhouse

We paid Outback prices, which are very reasonable.... but once we'd tried steak at Golden Coral, evenings only I think, we wondered why we'd paid more to be honest because it was seriously good steak there too. Each and every time we went.

Its a long time since weve been but always found sizzler to be great for breakfast and ponderosa to be best for an evening meal,it always had a good selection of steaks and a great buffet.

Longhorn steakhouse on the 192 is fab. I adored the sweet potato with butter and cinnamon. Oh and the steak was great.

I love the rib eye steak at the Outback but be warned if you eat there they tend to cook their steak far less than anywhere else. It suits me because I like my steak rare but I always order my steak medium rare at the Outback and Steve orders his well done whereas at other restaurants I order it rare and he orders it medium well.

For buffets I love the Golden Corral and their evening buffets include fantastic steak, you tell the chef at the grill how you like your steak cooked and he cuts you a piece that's done to your liking, you can then go back as often as you like. The quality at the Golden Corral is hard to beat for the price. They also have a great carvery night, I think it's Sundays when they have roast beef and turkey carved to order as well as all the other dishes and the usual steak mmmm :tounge:

we have eaten at an outback on 192 and the food there was good. we would certainly repeat the experience but it is dearer than the buffet option. if you are looking for a great steak without the issue of price then hard rock cafe, fridays and charleys steakhouse as well as the outback have provided excellent steak. But if you are looking for a cheaper option then golden corral has to win hands down. to get that quality of steak as much as you can eat, for less than the price of the above named restaurants then i also agree with the other posters.

golden corral has excellent steak for excellent prices.

For a pure steak, Charleys steakhouse is hard to beat - I had the 32oz last time, ate it all (then staggered out!)

Outback is nice, but I usually have the pork there!

We tried a restaurant called Mannys along highway 27 (haines City) for the 1st time last year and it was the BEST steakhouse we have eaten in ever; ),the food was great and the atmosphere and service fabulous,it seemed to be mainly Americans in there which we took to be a good sign aswell.you really must try it,we can't wait to go again this year

We heard about it from some other dibbers on this forum who also said it was their best steakhouse.
Also Smokey Bones was fairly good along the 192

One of our favourite places in the Roadhouse Grill on the 192 on the left just passed Old Town Kississmee. It's a lovely atmosphere, food is good and there are buckets of peanuts for you to eat!

Longhorn on 192 is great, but then again there are so many good restaurants around it's hard to get a really bad meal.

I don't think they have a car?.... that's why I didn't mention Manny's chophouse. A taxi there would be a horrendous price it's a loooooooooong way to go by cab :(
