Hi my husband has a really bad ear infection & we are due to go to DC this week. I think he needs to see a doctor does anyone have a rough idea how much it costs to see one?

I know 5 years ago when we were out there Rob had a chest infection and like you were going to DC in total for the check up and perscription I think it was around $250 although this was claimed back on insurance. If He does have a bad ear infection I would seriously go and see someone as I have one at the moment which has resulted in a perforation and the Dr advised me not to go swimming - not the thing you want when visiting DC.

By the way the doctor we swa was at a medi clinic along 192 - towards Marker 3 or 4 I think behing TGIs

Hope this helps

They have agreement with some Companies to settle direct also they accept any credit cards.

If he does have an ear infection I really would go and see a Dr otherwise it will really take the shine of DC, have you spoken to a pharmacist out there because they are also really helpful and offer free advice

Hi,

the year before last DD had a bad cough we went to a walk in health centre just around the corner from the Marriott Village at LBV where we were staying. We didn's see a doctor but a nurse practicioner. The whole thing cost about £120 most of which was for the prescription - steroids and antibiotics. We claimed when we got back to the UK got it all back ,minus £50 excess. I would definitely go.

If it is an ear infection my friend told me about something she got in Wal-Mart called swimmers aid which protected her son's ears from the water when he got an ear infection.

Go to the doctor's and don't let this affect your holiday.

We paid a visit to the doctors in 2006, our eldest daughter also had an ear infection. The visit plus antibiotics came to a little over $200. After policy excess could have claimed about 50p, unsurprisingly we didn't bother.

I had to go to a Medical Center as my knee became very swollen on the flight over. They wanted to give me an x-ray but as I knew I hadn't hurt it I insisted that I didn't need one. It cost about $150 for the doctor and $30 for the perscription but I reckon if they had given me the x-ray it would have been twice the price.

Just a note to say don't just go to a Doctors, phone the number on your travel insurance policy and they will tell you where to go, and as others have said will sometimes settle the bill with the Doctor themselves minus the excess you will have to pay.

Christmas 2004 I had a really bad migraine so DH called the Doc (the one on WDW property - Dr Jim Almond if I remember correctly!) which actually turned out to be Meningitus and I was in hospital for a week.

I was taken to Celebration Hospital (beautiful hospital) and DH phoned my insurance company. It was basically all taken care of from there.

They were really good to me and although I was sent an invoice for the Cat Scans, MRI's etc which was only about $800 my insurance company just handled it once they received the invoice.

I think it cost about $180 to get the Doc out but it was worth it. The prescription cost floored me though, damn expensive!

My insurance was bought from Thomas Cook but was underwritten by AXA.

I would say just do it, my DH ummd and aahd before asking me if I wanted to call the Doc as it was quite a bit of money and I said yes in the end because i'd never felt so bad. I'm so glad I did!

We had to take my little niece to ER 2 years ago when she had a really bad attack of collic.

My brother forgot his wallet so I had to pick up the bill which came to around $290 - which we claimed back from the insurance company once we'd got home

interesting thread ,ear infections seem very common whilst away I suspect hotels pools are not always a s clean micro biologically speaking as they should be.
If we needed the Doc I would always check your insurer 1st to make sure you will get the money back.Hospitals do have a habit of doing things like xrays that you dont need
WE just got a bill for DD,s skiing accident sent directly to us because the insurer hasnt paid it yet. AS it was a school trip I have let them sort it out .
