We don't plan on doing the disney parks next year, but my daughter said she would like to have a character meal one evening just so that she gets to see Pluto!
My question is, if I prebook a character meal with disney, do I have to buy a ticket for the day too? If so, this is going to be a very expensive meal! :confused2

You only have to buy a ticket if the meal is in one of the parks. Have you looked at the meals that are in the hotels, as you would not have to pay for parking or admission then. :wavey:

If you book a character meal at disney you do need a pass for the park for that day. I just phoned a couple of weeks ago to book our ADR's and after every booking she said you need a entry ticket. I think the rainforest cafe at animal kingdom was the only one that you do not need to have a park ticket because its entrance is before you go into the park but i am not sure if they do character dining.

you wouldn't need park entry if you were having a character meal at 1900 park fayre, cape may, chef mickey's etc.....not sure which ones have pluto though

There are also character meals outside the parks, check out the meals at the resorts which you can also book ahead and visit without needing a ticket. Just pay for your meal. To name a few, Chef Mickey's, O'Hana, Cape May, 1900 Park Fayre.

Just had a check & Pluto appears at Liberty Tree Tavern, (in MK so you would need admission) and may appear at 'Ohana Character Breakfast at the Polynesian.
* Edited to say he is also at Chef Mickey which would be a good option for you as there would be no need for park admission.

I'm sure Pluto was at the Cape May breakfast when we went there but that was in 2005 so may have changed.

I went to the Cape May breakfast in 2003 & 2008 and it was Minnie, Goofy and Chip 'n Dale.
