I am in no way a Disney expert but I have done the disney thing 5 times and twice on my own for a varying lenght of time. The first time my parents went they stayed at the Holiday Inn I Drive and raved about it. A year later I went in for a drink at the bar and was most impressed.

Although I have never stayed at the hotel I have always been impressed with the service and cleanliness except perhaps for the last two times.

Last Christmas I visited and found an extra gift shop but the bars I remmember (was there a stand up comedy place?) and general impression when I walked through the door was not good. It seemed rather ordinary. Also for the first time I orderd a pitcher of beer paid more than at the Rodeway and it wasn't frosted. The bar seemed to have gone rather downhill.

This year was even worse. My family sat in the corner and I rested my arm on the blue wooden balcony, the top knob came off in my hand revealing a 7inch spike ! The worse thing was that when I need to use the toilet I went to the gents and found it covered in .... erm the brown stuff... all over .... walls .... floor .... urinals. I don't know what had happened and in a family hotel things happen but it really put me off.

I needed to go badly but still walked down to The Rodeway and went in the bar there. As I have been searching for prices this year I have found the Holiday Inn to be giving good value with some operators not much dearer than The Rodeway or the Best Western Movieworld. In a funny way this concerns me :confused2
Also the score of 75 (I think) for accomodation seems a little low ( is that in the Thomson brochure) and I can't imagine the hotel my parents described in 1998 as getting anything less than 100!

Any thoughts appreciated.
