Both my DS'S 6 and 11 both suffer from prickly heat every time we've been.
They both love the water and are in it most of the day, when we've stayed in villas.
Is there a particular suncream anyone can recommend to avoid this?
We have used Hawaiian Tropic before, the one which stays waterproof for up to 8hrs. Also tried spray on coppertone.
Please help as dont know which one to buy now.....
My DD and I get prickly heat all over. Have found that Nivea "spray" suntan cream works well for us.
I tried Piz Buin allergy sun cream one year and got prickly heat badly. Had to go and buy some Nivea spray (not easy in Turkey).

P20 is quite good. Its a oil based lotion that u apply 1 hour b4 u go out in the sun and it should last all day, thou in the blazing sun I tend to carry a spray round with me to top up. I suffer with prickly heat and get it with any lotion I use which is very annoying!!

I love the Banana boat suncream:), your skin need to breathe to avoid the prickly heat, i avoid any nivea suncream as it seems to make it worse:cry:
We used piz buin all day about two years ago for the first time . It is the only cream i have used for dh and ds where they did not get prickly heat ! It is realy good stuff and usually does last all day although if in and out of water or long exposure i reapply anyway.
Both my DH and DD get prickly heat and we found that the Piz Buin allergy was very good. Avoid any Avon products even the sensitive skin one, they both had big problems with it.
My Dh tried the Piz Buin all day one and thought it was quite good, he hates putting sun cream on especially his legs (Hairy).

We always go with Banana Boat Sport only $9.99 from Walgreens and a lot more effective than what we can get over here  , I think the reason you get prickly heat is because the skin gets too hot because you aren't using a high enough factor sunscreen and the skin boils.
If I am wrong I dare say someone will say as it's only what I have heard but does kinda makes sense

I usually get prickly heat, but last year I used 'Piz Buin Allergy' and didn't get any.

We bought ours in Walmart, can`t remember the name but very effective. It was factor 30, but we still got a nice tan. Also a lot cheaper than buying from here.

I suffer from sun allergies and prickly heat. I always take anti-histamines and use Avon's suncream for sensitive skin and have never had a problem since doing so. At the moment it is on offer and terrific value.

I would give the Coppertone spray a try it's fab.It is like a dry oil so no drying time and not sticky. My husband and daughter both suffer with prickly heat. You get it cheapest at walgreens once you are there you can buy it in the parks but it's twice the price.

we bought quite a few in the US from Walmart the spray on no rub type and my daughter who suffers midly had no problems
Coppertone was one of the ones we liked and Aussie Gold I think was another
A tip is to avoid waterproof ones as they dont allow the skin to sweat which then causes the rash
downside being that you have to apply and reapply before and after swimming but it will help to stop the rash
