We are not intending on spending as much time as usual at the parks, does anybody have any suggestions for alternative days out?

We would like to do a Boggy Creek boat ride, how would we arrange this?

Hi, take a look at Boggy Creek's website here (http://bcairboats.com) for more information.

Alternatively it is only about an hour - hour 1/2 drive from Orlando to the coast so why not take a trip to the beach. Easily done in a day, our favourite is Clearwater beach on the Gulf coast.

Take a look at the sticky note found in this section. There is a good list of things to do outside of the big parks.

Boggy Creek is a great time. If you have small children you could also stop at Green Meadows Farm since it is off of the same road. Neither take the entire day and would be a good combination for a day outdoors. I know that a lot of people also do Gatorland with Boggy Creek.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask or pm me. I'll try to give you information from a local perspective.

Pick up coupon books at the front of restaurants/shopping areas. There are generally coupons for all of the 'non theme park' type of places. Even as a local I never pay full price for these type of activities.

What about crazy golf - we had a fun few hours playing at Congo River Adventure on the 192. Also, you could be daring and go in a hot air balloon, or go to Kennedy Space Centre.

we went to gator land on our last day before heading to the airport and we had a good day with not much on offer to buy so no extras for the hand lugage.

Boggy Creek is a must. We are going to do a night trip this time. I think you have to ring and book before you go though. Enjoy.

That is correct for night trips but during the day you do not have to pre-book.

Oops silly me didn't notice the sticky

I really would like to do the boat tour? Is it better to go in the day or at night?

Oh I'm going to be in so much trouble as I posted the 'silly me' post using my daughter's computer (Tinkerbeckii) without logging on as me, she'll go mad!

:tinkani: We did the twilight experience at discovery cove which is different to the average day, and the dining with shamu at seaworld both dayss were very good.

If you are refering to the airboat tour I would suggest to do it during the day if you haven't done it before. I've been several times and said that I think I'd like to do the night tour the next time for something different. Although the night tour will be good I think it would be a shame to be a 1st timer and possibly miss out on all the wildlife that you usually see.

HI, does anyone know if boggy greek is ok for a 6yr old, my DD will only just be 6 when we go, think she may prefer the farm better.

Hubby and ds who will be 12 can do boggy creek and us girls will do the farm, is the farm near the creek?

Hadn't thought about missing out on wildlife, so I think the day would be best, also I think I might be a little scared as I'm not great on water though DD's and DH would probably be very amused.

We went to Clearwater and Cape Canaveral and really enjoyed both. Even though Disney and the other parks were brill it was nice to have a change of scenery and pace for a couple of days. We booked both through our hotel.

I would say Silver Springs is worth a visit, about an hour and a bits driving time much quieter than all the other parks.

Is Silver Springs another kind of theme park? Would it be suitable for DD's 15 and 13?

If you do a google search for Silver Springs you should find there website,Basically the lakes are made up from freshwater artesian springs.
They have glass bottomed boat tours and the water is crystal clear it is not a large theme park and as such there are no thrill rides as such.

But they have giraffes and bears as well as alligators and a bird show.
But in comparison to the hustle and bustle of orlando it is a nice day out,if your children are thrill ride junkies then it may not be for them.

Discovery Cove is a fantastic day :cool2: Can be expensive and does involve at least 1 person in the party taking the interactive dolphin experience but what a day its like being in an exclusive 5* resort for the day a real treat. Drinks, food and snacks all day are included in the price :cool2: A day trip to cocoa beach is well worth it too or kennedy space centre
