What is the ride actually like? Never did get to go on it this last trip and am desperate to know what its like. Would it be suitable for a young child?
ooh loved this ride so much so we did it twice! sort of a indoor ride with a huge screen in front of you and you really feel like ur flying. Take a free-flying adventure across the natural wonders of the Golden State aboard this thrilling Disney's California Adventure park attraction. With the wind in your hair, glide 12 metres in the air as you look down upon the breathtaking vistas of Yosemite and redwood forests. Soar as high as your imagination over a world of wonders. this is from the disney site, have a look cos you can see the vid, hope this helps

Brilliant! Easily the best ride. There are ALOT of health warnings while queuing which make it seem alot more of a thrill ride than it is.
You sit in a 'glider' and this lifts up and the screen in front shows various scenes from California including Disneyland. You can feel the wind and smell the oranges and twice you thinkg your feet are gonna get wet.
It is suitable for all ages, there will be restrictions on height, but if your child is nervous then perhaps ride first the check it out.

 It's lovely, especially if you get in the front set of seats so that you don't see other riders' feet!! I love going over the orange glades and smelling the oranges. Mind you it's a lot better when you don't have to queue for it!! :)

We all like this ride. Not so much that we would queue for an hour, but with a fast pass I would do it again. My DS went on this when he was 4 and he loved it.

The queues are mad so definately worth fast passing. I have to say I kept looking round so kept seeing the top of the screen (don't do it - spolis it) I had flip flops on and they make you leave them on the floor too which made me nervous, silly I know!!!! :mickeybou :mickeybou :mickeybou
I'd like it more if the sighte were of WDW which I'd recognise better.

There's loads of clips on youtube, but you'll not get the full experience unless you ride it!
Very unbothered by this ride - I did not know what it was about when we went apart from the fact that many people seem to rave about it.
Did not have to queue as we were there early and at a quiet time of year, walked on, got front row seats (which are meant to be the best as you see no dangling feet) and I nearly fell asleep!
I think that the queueing area misleads you as it had fantastic photos of icebergs and mountains, I thought it would be a 'world' trip, but it was only California and I never got the smells others did? Also some of the pixels on the screen were out, leading to black spots which detracted from the whole thing.
Will give it another go this September, but may sit it out if anyone then wants to go again.

it has to be one of the best rides there apart from spiderman ride i went on it 6 time on all 3 hieghts
Do the seats sway and dip very much? I'm not sure if I could stomach seats that swoop and sway. I'm fine with heights and the screen wouldn't bother me. Its just the movement of the seats  . I queued up last time, got to the front and chickened out right at the last minute. I don't do rides but enjoyed Pirates and Maelstrom so I'm ok with those.

Dull. Very dull. And I didn't get the smells either and I normally have a good sense of smell. All three of us, DH, DD (9) and I were underwhelmed by it.

It is one of the best rides in WDW, If not THE best. You will all enjoy it. We went on it several times last year.

Bril ride, try to sit at the top so you don't see the Nike trainers on the mountain tops!!! you will know what I mean if you sit at the bottom. I would defo fast pass it I wouldn't stand in line more than 30 mins for it too much else to see and do.

Super ride, one of my favourites. If you can do pirates and maelstrom (which I can't) then you'll be fine. Had heard a rumour that they are changing it to be a florida scene but nothing confirmed. Definately get fast passes though as waits can be up to 2 hours! Get an early start and head for it early as well as getting fast passes.
BTW did you know that once your fast pass time has gone you can still use them anytime afterwards. This was a tip we learnt on our last trip and it works. We collected several, then went home for that afternoon and used the FP's in the evening!!
Well DH and DD 5 loved this but I didn't like it, I didn't like the way the seats tipped and felt really unwell on it - I'm such a wuss.

we did it this year, not been able to get on it the previous 2 years way too busy, but it was great, i really enjoyed it, you just sit in a bit long seat, the screen appears and you lift up, and it feels like you are flying, and the smells of the oranges etc is great, you will enjoy it.

i thought the games in the ride que were more interesting than the ride. i didnt like how the images on the screen dont flow into each other, they jump about abit. i also didnt like the leaning forward dangling feet thing. and the air con was far too cold when we went.

Were you ever challenged or did you need to make up some sort of excuse or apology as I'm liking the sound of this very much. ;)

we have done this in the past. it works when the ride is quieter. if theres no one in the fast pass que they let you on with fast passes that have timed out. cant remember what ride it was but it wasnt soaring. might have been in mgm.
