For those of you wanting to see some real photo taken at Aquatica prior to opening, this link has been posted on a villa owners forum -

It seems you pay for shade. The park has very little landscaping shade and all the lounge chairs are in the full sun. You can pay $ 175 per day / per six guests for a shaded gazebo with a concierge who is at your beck and call all day. That or you can enjoy the sun. There were very few umbrellas for shade except in the restaurant and gift shop areas.

Gate price: just under $40

quite surprised to see the comments about lack of shade as the aquatica web site makes a big thing about having lots of shade in the trees etc....maybe thats still to go in.

We've booked a Cabanna anyway so we are some of the lucky few....looks great...can't wait to go

a little concerned about the lack of shade, last year when we went to italy we went to a waterpark and they had very little and made for a slightly uncomfortable day as you had to stand under very small trees to get some relief from the sun, as there is only going to be 3 of us a cabana at $175 is pretty pricey. at least in the disney parks there is ample for everybody. but i guess we will need to wait and see if this is the case. shirley

We were thinking of booking a cabanna in case it was busy in April. I cannot see them on the pics - does anyone have any pics yet of what the cabannas look like? :wavey:

Looks good and I agree about the shade but maybe they are going to put a load of umbrellas and stuff up?

I am still very interested though!

Thanks for posting the photos. It's a shame about the lack of shade, I'll have to make sure that we are wearing a really high factor cream that day.

from looking at the photos, it looks like there is a lot of natural shade just not on the beach.

I know the link to the video has been posted before but its worth looking at the Orlando Sentinel's latest article which can be found at
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/business/orl-aquatica0908feb09,0,3674609.story

There is a link to some great photos that I don't think have been seen before.

Still not much about the cabannas although there is a recent article which mentions them at http://www.orlandosentinel.com/services/newspaper/printedition/friday/calendar/orl-bevil2208feb22,0,6731814.column

Im there from 1st March - might drag myself along if I can be bothered ;)

Seriously tho - it does look fab, and will defo be going there. Cant wait to do the dolphing tube. DW and her sister doing Discovery cove in week 2, so the "boys" will be going to Aquatica!

I wonder if they sell Budweiser (as its part of Busch whatever its called)? Mind, it'd be a bit dangerous tho - mixing beer and water slides.

Cheers
Rob

That kids play area looks like the one in the splash landings hotel at Alton Towers.

If there are no umbrellas for shade then you wont see me there!

Can't wait to go, but surely Anhauser Busch aren't stupid enough to let people fry in the Florida sunshine. Perhaps it's a ploy to make people spend more on the cabanas. There just has to be umberallas over the loungers!!!!!
Won't stop me going though - 50 factor sunscreen for me!!!!

You will def need a cabana then :d:
I can't believe you need to pay to stay out of the sun!! Not decided whether we will go (well ok, dh has decided we will go, I'm still to be convinced), we will see what the weather is like when we are there in nov/dec so IF we go it will be a last min thing.

I suspect they will put up umbrellas to help with shade :)

Wow, looks great. Wish I was going soon to see it. Seems bad planning to not have a lot of shade (or good for money-grabbing for the cabana's). Looking forward to hearing reviews when it actually opens

WOW I just can not wait for the slide that goes under the water with the whales/dolphins. What if it goes too fast and you miss it all or too slow and you stop and panic lol...Thanks for sharing x

Looks good and we will have to go as it's new and who knows when we will get the chance to go back to Florida. Concerned about lack of shade though, I have to wear hat and sunglasses all the time or I get headaches so shade would have been good. Never mind, still can't wait to go.

Thanks for the piccies they're fab!!

Looks like a great park but like most others I am concerned about the lack of shade, I don't mind paying a small fee for an umbrella but $175 for a cabana for 2 people is too steep!!! Surely in this day and age there must be a health & safety law about this?!?!

Looks amazing , especially the kids area, parents won't get much relaxtion though, you couldn't let your kids go off on their own in there, it's like a maze!

Thanks for sharing

not that it is much of a change but the cabanna is for four people and others can be added (at a cost of course :confused2 ).

No-one has seen what they are like yet although the suspicions are that they will be similar to those in Discovery Cove.

You are not just paying for the shade, but also for a more private area, sun beds, a fridge stocked with some free drinks, sun cream and a fan.

Many might still not think its worth it....even I might not when we get there (wife certainly thinks i am mad :D ) but I felt it was something different and my two boys can't wait to get down that slide....I might just give it a miss in case i get stuck and find all the dolphins laughing at me :pgig:
