I was pleased to see there is now a launch while we're there on March 11th as it has been delayed twice from earlier dates. But the launch is at 2.28am :tounge:

Has anyone ever seen a night launch-and would it be worth driving down to Titusville/KSC to see the launch in the middle of the night?! :confused2

Neeedless to say the tickets to view the launch from close up have all gone but there are tickets to see it from KSC.The woman on the phone last night said you see it about 3 seconds after take-off and I didn't understand if she said it is a tree lined obsctructed or UNOBSTCRUCTED view?

Any advice appreciated :spin:

Hi Kazzie,
I haven't seen this but surely if it is a night flight, then no matter where you are, as long as it is close, it would be a great sight. Whatever you do, I am sure if you see it take off it will stay in your memories for a long time.

Yes we have seen a night launch - we saw it at an official viewing site so we could see the shuttle on the launch pad from where we were with unrestricted viewing. I did recently read about the KCS one, I don't think you can actually see the shuttle till it lauches, but perhaps with it being the KCS they will have screes up with live images too? Worth giving them a call to check it out. We booked with gator tours, just looked at their site but they are selling it as a combined day out at Cocoa beach and the shuttle launch so depends on your circumstances if that would suit. There are probably other companies that do shuttle launch trips but the only one I know of is gator.

Thanks to you both.
I did see a link to Gator tours but I think they drive you from Orlando ie for non drivers? I'll take another look.
I'm not sure how they can combine the launch with Cocoa Beach in the middle of the night!
