I'm planning to fit in a few tours on my next holiday and was thinking about this tour however as it's 7 hours - I'm wondering if it will be a bit long especially if the weather is very hot? Has anyone tried this and if so, what did you think of it?
:wavey:
I'm booked for the Keys To The Kingdom already:spin:
I've been wondering about doing one of these tours myself actually. Either the MK Keys to the Kingdom one or the Epcot tour. I've not done any sort of official backstage tour before (although I have been backstage on occasions) and was wondering about the heat issue in late August myself - I tend to just stick to air conditioned buildings most of the time when it gets hot!
We'll be there about the same time by the look of your countdown, maybe we could pick the same day and ask lots of awkward British questions? :)

Awkward Brit? Moi? Never:nonono: Interested and nosy - that's more like me!;) Still undecided as it does seem a bit long at 7 hours and as you said, the heat could be an issue. Only thing is, I'm thinking that as August is a popular month, the tours could well book up quite quickly. :wavey:
Booked for Keys of the Kingdon on 5/09/08

We did the K2K tour in August, it was fine loads of stops, always in the shade.
Great tour!

I did the Backstage Magic Tour in July last year. Its amazing! You're not actually in the heat for all that long, well not that I can remember, but the heat doesn't really affect me that much.
I can't recommend it highly enough. The day goes too quickly.
My trip report (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=187879) tells you all about it.
I'm happy to answer more questions though :D

Thanks for that - read your trippie and it sounds great. Going to pm you with a couple of questions - hope that's ok?

Thats fine, PM away :D
Personally I would not do the Backstage Magic Tour and K2K on the same holiday as the BSMT includes a mini K2K one - would be like doing that one twice with a bit of Epcot and MGM thrown in lol
I love the WDW tours - Undiscovered Future World at Epcot was brilliant (with the added bonus of the passes to a roped off VIP area for Illuminations) as was the Wild by Design tour at AK.

Are these tours suitable for children too? anyone took kids?

There are age limits for some tours, you cannot do Keys to the Kingdom if you are under 16 - reason being, they give lots of secrets away! Can take the magic away for littlies.
Pretty sure most of the tours have this kind of age restriction?

We are doing the K2K tour this year, and are really looking forward to it. We have had to wait until DS was 16, and as stated above most of the tours are aged 16 and above.
The think the only ones that aren't are the treasure hunt one and also the railway engines tour.
Will perhaps do the 7 hour tour next year (!!)
Hmm, I wonder whether it might be cheaper/easier to do two half-day tours on different mornings - the Keys to the Kingdom tour of MK one day and the Undiscovered Future World another - rather than the all-day Backstage Magic tour, which is more than twice as expensive as the other two.
I'm not so worried about seeing Studios, so I assume pretty much everything in MK and Epcot that's covered in the one-day tour would also be covered by the two half-day ones?

Its not just behind the scenes at the parks in the Backstage Magic Tour. They also go to the Disney Florists, and the place where all the decorations are kept, where all the rides and fixed and made. I agree that the tour is quite expensive, but definately worth it.
But yeah, it does take up practically a whole day when you could be doing other things. And doing KTTK and Undiscovered Future World might be another option. Depends what you want to see I guess :)
Well I made my decision. The full seven hours in one day seemed a bit much, and I can probably live without seeing the florists (although the ride repair facilities would have been interesting).
So I've booked Undiscovered Future World at Epcot on Friday 29th August (9am-noon) and Keys to the Kingdom on Sunday 31st August (8.30-1am, although I might yet change that to a 9am start).
So if anyone else wants to come along on either of those two tours too, drop me line! (It could be worth your while...)

Don't forget to check for discounts when you book the tours - for annual pass holders i think its 15%. There are also discounts for others too - if i remember right even AA (AAA) membership gets you a discount.
I can recommend both backstage magic and Keys to the Kingdom. For Backstage Magic you travel around on an air conditioned coach and there is loads of water available. For Keys you get water at the start.
I'm planning on booking K2K, Undiscovered Future World and the Epcot Segway tour, for our honeymoon in October. I was thinking about booking the Backstage Magic Tour, but like Andre has said, it is more or less a full day out and fairly expensive compared to the others.
Oh, forgot to say I've also got both Segway Tours booked too (Epcot and Fort Wilderness).
