View Full Version : Rainforest Cafe - AK or Downtown?
We are thinking of dining at Rainforest Cafe, has anyone been to both of them? Are they both the same? I have read that it is best to sit in the Gorilla Room for a better experience.
Any comments greatly appreciated.
Also, is it possible to reserve by email, can't find a link on any website for email contact, only tel. no.

We usually eat at the AK one - it's had slightly better write ups from what I've seen, and it also appears to be a bit less busy.

We went to the Downtown Disney one twice in 2001 and loved it. We were in the Gorilla Room on the first visit, but I wouldn't think it mattered where you were. The atmosphere is brilliant and we found the food pretty good (it's not Egon Ronay, but it's miles better than some restaurants over here). The Smoothies (fruit and yoghurt type drinks) were wonderful.
It's definitely an "experience", and I would recommend the DD one, although of course it was a couple of years since we went.
We also loved the French Toast with Strawberries at Wolfgang Puck Express (at DD, not the expensive Wolfgang Puck, the fast food version). We tried the French Toast on our last day there and wished we found it sooner.

Oh, in the Rainforest Café, don't forget to look at the stools by the Bar area - they're brilliant - I won't give it away, you'll have to see them for yourselves.
Thanks all, will definitley be booking, looking forward to the special effects.

Haven't tried the one at AK (we were told it wasn't as nice as DTD) but we always visit the one at DTD on every trip. A great experience.
