Daytona or Cocoa Beach?

Hi guys, I've been 'lurking' for absolutely ages, and this is my first post. Picked up lots of good tips, without having to ask.

July this year will see our second visit to Orlando, for myself DW and DD(14). Planning is well under way, we are staying off-site at Doubletree at Entrance to Universal - flying First Choice SCP from Glasgow on 11 July.

Last time (2005) we made a day trip to Clearwater, which was lovely. This year we plan to do a day trip to either Daytona or Cocoa beach. I've looked at guide books and websites but can't make up my mind which one to visit.

How long is the travelling (by car) to each resort?
What is there to do in each resort? (we're not into water sports - looking for a general overall view of activities)
When is the best time to visit - weekends or during the week?

I would probably say Daytona was my preffered beach out of the two you are asking about...

It is possible to do Daytona and Cocoa beach in one day and not be too rushed......we done both in 2001.

It is about an hour, if that to Cocoa Beach. We prefer it there to Daytona. We have always found weekends busier than the week. Daytona - there you can drive you car on the beach for a nominal fee and park. You would still have to pay for parking at Cocoa Beach in some carpark.

It isn`t expensive for the car park at Cocoa Beach.
