Hi
we are going to disney on 8 mar 08 for 2 weeks. We are taking our ds aged 8 with aspergers and our dd aged 2 years. Last time we took him he was 6 and he hadn't been diagnosed then. We didn't know about the gac. We really strugglied with him queing and in particular attending the shows. As we are going over easter we are expecting very busy ques. Does the gac allow you to access the shows i.e. fantasmic and lion king etc without queing for long periods of time. I know from last time that you have to que early for fantasmic and then get a sit early. This is to long for my son to wait and last time he was on melt down by the time it started. How does the gac card work in relation to shows. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :d:

I can't help you with the GAC re shows as although we do have one for DS2 he is also a wheelchair user and we are directed to these areas. Have you thought about doing the Fantasmic Dining Package? We do this at the Studios and don't get to the show until 30 minutes before the show. Details are here (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/fantasmic-dining-experience.php) on thew Dibb.

The GAC will not save you waiting, it is not a front of line pass. What it can do is allow you to wait elsewhere, somewhere quiet away from the crowds if that would help.
I second Caron's recommendation for the Dinner Package, it's by far the best way to do Fantasmic and really cuts down on the waiting time.
there are Disabled seats at the back of fantasmic for people with GOC but sadly we found these limited due to abuse of disabled people who sit big families with them aswel.
We nearly came to blows with one family as there was a number of seats free and these people said we cant sit there as they were reserved for there family ( 8 of them who were on the TOT ) We sat down and didnt budge but it was uncomfortable during the show, the Disabled guy got up out of his scooter and walked to get a drink ???????
Disney need to cut down on how many people per disabled section.

GAC doesn't help with the wait for shows, etc., unfortunately. Our youngest used to really struggle with the wait but he is getting better, especially as he now knows what is coming. There's not a lot you can do, apart from taking a small game or book in with you to help keep him occupied. Last year we bought some 'glow sticks' for $1 at Walmart and the kids all sat and made bracelets and necklaces while they waited for shows and the fireworks - it kept them all happy for ages, and my autistic DS absolutely loved waving them in front of his eyes. The tube of sticks didn't take up much space in our bag and it was a godsend. :)

This is something we have queried with cast members in the past and have been advised for only one member of our party to join the queue and have the others join at a later time.

The GAC helped us with the Candle Light Processional. We had booked the package and when we were having our meal I mentioned to our server that we had the GAC as our daughter was autistic. He spoke with his manager and they rang someone who delt with the processional. We were told to speak to Lisa in the booth near the theatre, which we did. The queue for the reserved seating was huge and our DD would have struggled with this but Lisa took us through the rope and we sat at the back in the reserved disabled seating area. This was great for us as we were not sat next to anyone else (our DD struggles with strangers as they tend to stare at her). I would ask the staff who man the shows and see if they can help you. It's always worth asking. I thought it was brilliant :thumbs-up

:wavey: Hi, thanks everyone for your replies. I am going to see if I can get a reservation for the package. The idea about the luminous sticks is a great idea and I will try that. Even waiting in another area will be extremely difficult for my son to manage so I will seek assistance once there.
