View Full Version : Walmart or Super Target?
We've never visited either, and I was all for going to Walmart, but now have been told that Super Target is better.
So, we only have time to visit one store during our stay. Which one would you say is best for a superstore first-timer?
Thanks :D
Walmart has always been the more popular, but as they are open late you could probably manage both!!!

Ooohh really tough choice if I could only do one.
I love them both virtually equally.
If I really had to choose I would probably come down on the side of Walmart - so long as it was a super centre one.

Actually, I've often wondered why SuperTarget is so much quieter than Walmart since they stock similar goodies.
Happy to wander and shop in both, but we probably head to a Walmart first.

Depends on what you are looking for??
Walmart - cheaper, busier (horrendous queues at times!) plenty of everything
Super Target - slightly more expensive, not as busier, cleaner, not quite as much choice as Walmart - but more than enough
We do shop at both, but 'prefer' Target....but for food we like Publix!!

Another vote for Super Target. More "upmarket" and nicer goods. We spent a fortune in there the one evening.

there is a newish Super Target on the 192, just east of the junction with the 535 road coming down from LBV, which I can recommend!

Super Target for us too :thumb:
It's in the exact area you'll be shopping in so makes sense to go there. You know you'll be in Florida again so could always go to a Walmart the next time
Thanks for your replies - still thinking about it! :d:
Jakki - I saw in another post that you mentioned the Krispy Kreme shop near Mall of Millenia - is that walkable from the Super Target?

Yep :tounge: :tounge:
Oh me oh my!! :pgig: That might swing it then! ;)
Is there a map anywhere where I can see the location of Super Target, KK, and also petco?
we will be staying on i drive is there a super target near there
We went to a Super Target on the way back from Clearwater which had a Starbucks and a Pizza Hut inside.
Targets (Super or otherwise) never have enough of a selection of anything. Their Sports and DVD/Games department is nowhere near as good as a good Walmart store. The food tends to cost more aswell.
All in all, I think Walmart but will still visit Super Target.

I live within walking distance to Walmart but drive to Target. I am 100% a Target girl and missed it terribly while I was living in the UK. Whenever I have guests we go to Target and only go to Walmart if they ask.
This is an old map that I had and thought it might help you get an idea. The Petco is next door to Target (and that in American lingo means a short walk....lol) so you wouldn't have to move the car.

Thanks so much for the map - we won't have a car, we will be using taxis. We're also going to David's Bridal Shop to look at the prom dresses - I remember you telling me about it. Is it all walkable from the bridal shop to pet shop to target to krispy kreme or would we struggle? Thanks :D

No, you can do it. David's Bridal is on the Krispy Kreme side of the road. This sounds like a fun day of shopping!
Be sure to bring your passport in case you make any purchases in Macy's. You'll get 11% off (including clearance) your purchase. This doesn't apply to fragrance and make-up though.
LOL, don't know about fun, we're just trying to get it all done whilst in the area - just hope DD doesn't take too long choosing her dress! ;)
So is there a crossing on the road - or will we have to just run and hope for the best? :pgig:
Walmart for expensive purchases, if only for the reason i can take them back to ASDA if there's a problem.

Well, I doubt this will help any but Hayley prefers Walmart, I prefer Super Target!
Each one has its own pros and cons, for kids toys, sports etc Walmart wins every time but S. Target just seems a 'nicer' store to me.

Pictures in the newspaper today of Posh coming out of a Super Target, even though the American's class it as a discount store.
Could't see her coming out of Walmart shopping lol.
If it's good enough for her etc etc

I like both of them although I prefer Walmart. If you're going to the one on the 192 or the 535 then there is a Super Target nearby to both of these.

We want to visit a BIG Walmart and a Super Target on the same day that are near to each other because we dont have a car.
We will be staying in Beach Club Villas but can leave from any Disney Hotel or Park. Where will be the best Walmart and Super Target to go?
Thanks

Has got to be Walmart for me. Much better choice and cheaper.
Super Target is good though. and I have to agree that it's cleaner and quieter which should really tell you which one is bet value.

Target is vastly more ethical than Wal-Mart. I along with some other people in the US boycott Wal-Mart because of ... quite a large number of reasons actually. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Criticism_of_Wal-Mart)

For me it's Wal-Mart for better prices and more selection and inventory. Plus I know its layout and thus save time. One thing I always do is buy a coffee maker (Mr. Coffee) for about $10 and just leave it behind after my vacation is over; it cheaper than buying coffee in the food court and I don't have to stumble out of the room at 6 a.m.
For my overseas correspondents who might not be familiar with it, if you are spending a lot of money at Wal-Mart or Target, you might be wise to get a membership at Costco.
Nicer than either Target or Wal-Mart in my opinion, with better prices on the things they carry. Really good on things like snacks and spaghetti sauce, pasta, peanut butter, fruit, bread, coffee, wine, beer, cheese, roasted chickens, frozen dinners, etc. if you will be preparing any meals. Also quite good for digital cameras/memory cards, batteries, medicine, bottled water, sodas, detergent, Disney books and souvenirs (especially in Orlando), birthday cakes, etc. Huge already-cooked takeout pizzas for $8.
Costco is almost a religion with me; I save several thousand dollars a year shopping there. They won't have everything, though, so you'll have to stop at one of the others as well.

Reading all the comments it has suddenly dawned on me... Love Walmart of course, but Super Target has the edge, could be to do with the fact in the uk, I'm a Tesco geek... I hadn't thought of that before, even though I had heard of the Tesco-Target connection.
Doh!

I would recommend that you go to the Walmart and Target located on East 192. There is a JoAnne's craft store if you have anyone that does any sort of crafts. It is in the Target plaza.
If you are going to go to Medieval times you could combine it on that day (but then you'd have to deal with all of your bags and that might not be easy) because it is all in the same area. If you did a car hire for the day that would be your best option.
And I must add to those that have compared Target to Tesco's.....NO WAY! lol I'm sorry but Target is nothing like Tesco's. The only thing I could see is that they both have a line of clothing by Cherokee but that is the only thing I could compare them as similar.

I'm really not comparing the two, Target - Pleasure, Tesco - Chore!!!
There's nothing I could even think was similar, I just pointed out that maybe it was a sub-consious thing...

No worries....the comparison has been made before. I really think it is the Cherokee thing that brings the two together.
Either way...all great places! :-D
