View Full Version : A change to the menu at Ohana ?
I have just been reading on another forum that the chef confirmed to a poster last Saturday that their cheesy potatoes are going to go. I know that for a lot of people this part of the meal is a big pull so it will be disappointing. He said that it would be replaced by a pasta dish with peanuts and pineapple, almost like Pad Thai.
Ive never been an Ohana fan after our disastrous dinner there a few years ago, but I know a lot of you are. I hope you like the change - doesnt seem to popular with Ohana devotees.

Hmmm bad move I think. The cheesy potatoes were the best part of the meal for me although I am not a huge fan like yourself Margaret.
I don't understand why they keep changing menus that are obviously a hit with the customers!:confused2
Mm not sure I'm happy about this, never been before so cannot miss something I haven't tried, but I prefer the sound of the potatoes over the pasta with pineapple! (rice with pineapple and peanuts yes, but pasta??)
I would have thought that the two new ingredients were more in keeping with the theme of the Polynesian, but not pasta?

I liked the potatoes and the sausage so don't think it'll be on our list for 2009.

I think the pasta sounds disgusting. I loved the potatoes.
Well I've just broken the news to Paul :omg: I was worried that he'd want to cancel our 'Ohana ressie - he really loved those cheesey potatoes.
He was disappointed but he said we can still go :spin:
The noodle dish sounds very similar (apart from the now ubiquitous pineapple) to what he was given as his veggie dish last time we were there, so I wonder what he'll get now. Just some tofu I guess :confused2
I hope they don't get rid of the bread pudding....

Oh Sue, the potatoes were the best part for me so I feel Pauls pain!;)
Glad he still wants to go though. We couldn't have you going without your meat!!:D

Oh, what a shame - we're eating here soon and I was looking forward to the potatoes.

Why change? I am guessing the pasta thing is cheaper...

Probably. I guess that they are saying it is more authentic though. From what I have read it is a mixture of Udon noodles, pineapple and peppers. I read a review on another forum and it wasnt very complimentary. From the picture taken, it looked totally unexciting. There is word of the bread pudding going too but it is still on the menu at the minute.

Oh dear, now I am really sad! I was looking forward to that as well.
Never mind, forewarned is forearmed and at least we know now rather than finding out when we get there, so thank you for posting this Margaret.

Now the cheesy potatoes I don't think I would miss, but I will not be happy if the bread pudding goes!
I will have to be replaced with something nice otherwise no more 'Ohana for us:(
