We'll be spending 5 nights at Disney next year, and one of those nights we want to go to a really nice restaurant. I've looked to see what I can find...I quite like the look of the concourse steakhouse, but we want it to be really special so I'm not sure where to choose! :confused2
Somewhere where we could watch the fireworks from would be good, but it's not essential. We were thinking of going to a disney dinner show, but we might go for a nice fancy meal instead.
Any suggestions much appreciated!!! :D :D :D

The Concourse Steakhouse at the Contemporary is closing I'm afraid.

We had a fabulous meal at the Coral reef restaurant in Epcot so if you booked an early table you could come out and watch the fireworks afterwards.

I would go for the california Grill as you can see all over the Mk resorts and also when wishes comes on they dim the lights or you can go outside onto a platform to watch them

We had great meals at the Cali Grill and the Yachtsmans. We also really enjoyed the Coral Reef.:thumbs-up
Narcoossees is one I have my eye on too.
If you are an adults only group then the Bistro De Paris would be an excellent choice. Time it right and you could have a spectacular view of Illuminations. Read McSues report on that one. I would really like to go but wouldn't take the kids.:)

This one was a few years ago and pre kids but we had a lovely meal at the Portobello Yacht Club at Downtown Disney. I have very fond memories there but obviously no chance of seeing any fireworks.

Thanks guys! The cali grill & yachtman's - do people 'dress up' to go to these? I don't mean really formally, but are these both two of the nicer Disney restaurants??

Yes, they are both signature dining restaurants. There is a dress code which isn't very formal but it was definately nice to dress up a little.
I wore something similar to what I am wearing in my avatar to the Cali Grill.:thumbs-up

Yay!!
That's great. We normally hit the parks first thing in the morning then leave after the fireworks, so we eat at whichever park we're at - tend to be governed by location rather than switching from one park to another or to a different resort to eat...comes from wanting to cram in as much as we can at the parks!! But with going for 17 nights this time it will be so nice to actually go for a nicer meal at one of the signature restaurants. I like the sound of the california grill - it seems to have great reviews! Also like the idea of being able to see the fireworks from there. And the Yatchsmans steakhouse sounds good too!!
We're also gonna have to do the whispering canyon cafe, looks loads of fun, maybe after AK one day, then the california grill after blizzard beach as that's not open as late as the parks.

The Yachtsmans Steakhouse at the Yacht Club gets my vote - I had my Wedding Reception there!!

Aww that must have been lovely!! Are the Yatchsmans/California Grill 'intimate' or can you feel like you're sharing your meal with everyone else there??! Not sure intimate is the right word, but still, hope you know what I mean!!

I personally found the atmosphere at Yachtsman a little 'quieter' than California Grill. Both are lovely restaurants but at Yachtsman I felt it was a bit more subdued (but maybe everytime I've eaten there I've just struck it at the right time?), also the tables aren't too close together.
I've normally eaten there after 8 pm and it's not been full to the rafters.

I would most definately say the Yachtsmans is a quieter restaurant and the tables are more spaced out. We really did enjoy both restaurants. If you are maybe thinking from a romantic couple point of view, the Yachtsmans may suit you more as you will find more children at Cali Grill. But for me, even if the kids were with nanny, I would still choose the Cali Grill as the view and fireworks were just magical.:o:
You won't be disappointed with either in my opinion, great restaurants.:thumbs-up
my vote goes for the california grill. we timed it just right and saw Wishes fireworks outside before we were seated. and from our table we saw the water padgent on the lake( very far below) and both epcot fireworks and fantasmic fireworks (very far away) th 2 of us had a great evening and as we didn't sit down to eat untill about 8.30 there wern't many children around an the ones that were there were perfectly behaved. i can still taste my starter of cranberry, apple, caramel walnuts and bule cheese salad a strange combination but the lovelest thing i've eaten in years (it was the veggie option but i'm not veggie) its not a intamate resturant has quite a buzz about it but after nearly 30 years together we don't do intamate anymore. would definatly go back.
where is the California Grill, does anyone know if they do a Christmas Lunch? Thanks. :wavey:

Its at the Contemporary resort. I'm not sure about the Christmas menu. We were thinking of going there for Xmas Day but we might go on DH's birthday instead.:thumbs-up
