I have got 52000 point on my flying club card and was wondering if anyone knows if I could exchange them for hilton points,
If yes how many I would get and if it would get a family of four a night stay at the hilton gatwick hotel.

According to the Virgin website, 1 Virgin mile = 1 HH point

Sorry but it won't let me post the direct link, so if you go to the Virgin Atlantic website and select the 'Flying Club' link on the left, and then the 'Spend Miles' option and then the 'Meet our Partners' option it will explain what you need to do.

Last time I checked I think it was either 35000 or 40000 Hilton Points for the Hilton Gatwick, so you should have more than enough.

Yes I've done this. You need to call up the Flying Club and ask them to "tip" a number of miles into your HH account. They say it can take up to 30 days to go through but I've always had them showing on the account within a few days and you can then go ahead and book your hotel. Think it's 40,000 for a reward reservation for Gatwick if you just need the one room so you can just move that amount across and keep the rest as miles just in case you decide to use them. My DH has a miles account and I let them build up and usually use his to tip to HH and book rewards with them. My account is the main account and has our credit cards linked so use it as the primary for booking flight upgrades etc. It is indeed a one for one value on HH points so it can be quite a good way of getting the points you need if you can spare the miles. we had a 2 night stay at Longboat Key, Sarasota on our last trip and it was a great hotel. Will probably transfer some more next October to fund a couple of nights in St. Augustine.

It's per room. If you go onto the Hilton site - I use hilton.com as I find it easier to navigate and do a dummy booking for a reward reservation for your proposed dates you will be able to see what's available. There is a chance you may need 2 rooms in which case you'll need double the number of miles - will depend on availability and the maximum occupancy of available rooms.

Just checked the miles required and it's 35,000 per room. Looks like you may have a problem getting one for 4 people though. Have tried a selection of dates and not getting any rooms coming up. You may want to try with your actual dates and see if you are offered anything. The other option would be to ring reservations and see if they can help - they're usually very good and it may depend on the ages of your children as to whether they can accommodate you all in the one room.

Hope this is of some help.
