Oooh, I was just going to say from reading the title that its either in July and August, cos we've been there when its on.
I'm going to plump for end of July - but I'm probably wrong!!
Hope someone comes along who knows the definate answer

Last year started on the 4th Aug because we came home on the 3rd. :(
Previously it was about the 3rd week in July.
I think it's related to the school holidays so maybe its variable.

It does differ from year to year and the state has to approve it as it isn't something we've always have. They take a vote and then set the dates based on when the school year starts. The school supplies, clothes, etc. are the reason for offering it so that it helps out families handle the cost.
I do try and post the information once it is released so look for a thread nearer to July. They generally announce it sometime during that month.

Actually it applies to certain types of items (school supplies, clothes, etc). They publish a list when they release the dates and I always add that to the thread.
Take a look at last years thread (http://www.thedibb.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=160097&highlight=tax+free+shopping) for what was on last years list. It usually doesn't change much, if at all.
