Last month I booked 2 rooms in the Excalibur hotel for our June visit - I booked directly with the hotel using a 30 advanced booking deal which means you have to book at least 30 days before arrival and pay in full. There is also no refunds or cancellation refunds. Obviously we were happy with the cost at the time of booking as it was better than anything I could get anywhere else.

I was looking at the same deal yesterday, I know it was a stupid thing to do as I would tell everyone else!! Anyway, you've guessed the rooms were $75 cheaper now.

I wasn't holding out much hope but I e-mailed the Excalibur and told them that I was disappointed that having booked the rooms a month ago, on a special offer, the price was now considerably cheaper and could they explain why that was.

Anyway, in all fairness to the hotel, they e-mailed me back and reminded me that the rooms were booked using a no refund deal BUT I could charge goods/meals to each room to the value of the difference.

RESULT!! :)

Good for you-i probably wouldve thought theres no point asking but it just shows you!!

I did think twice but I had an e-mail contact so thought 'why not'. I didn't 'kick off' as I had no right to which is why I chose to use the word 'disappointed'. I really didn't think it would do any good, it goes to show that if you ask nicely you may be lucky.

It works out about £70 for the both rooms which isn't the end of the world but we are going for a wedding and that's a couple of drinks at the casino bar.

I've had a good few weeks money wise: I won £50 on Feb premium bonds, I got £193 back from the mortgage co and now this.

That's my 3!! I'm very happy!!

It continues to amaze me at just how accomodating the MGM Mirage group of hotels can be. The difference in service (and in some cases style) between them and the Harrah's group is getting bigger all the time.

Cue a loyal Harrah's customer...... :pgig: :pgig:
