Anyone been lots and have any good ideas were we have to visit? We are very family orientated and like sight seeing, shopping, history etc. Not so keen on clubbing but like the dinner shows.

We are staying in Palma Nova. Has anyone stayed there and have much good or bad to report? More specifically has anyone stayed at the Barcelo Cala Vinas?

Thanks

We like Palma Nova & think it's great for families. There used to be a Pirate Dinner Show but I don't know if it's stilll running & the kids liked the water park.Never stayed at Barcelo Cala Vinos though but looks good.

We stayed here about 5 years ago.....it was a £99 holiday that Going Places were offering good customers...so were weren't expecting it to be up to much....we were pleasantly surprised....we had a great holiday here....and the beach next to the Barcelo is a lovely wee cove.....there wasn't a great deal of restaurants in the immediate area but we got by....they had the usual entertainment on at night.....disco for kids etc....we liked the location and actually went to view some villas being built.....lol one of these days

There's a dibber who's one of the experts on the Majorca trip advisor forum....can't remember his dibb name....but his name's Neil....I'm sure he'll be able to tell you more about the place....

edited to say I've just remembered the dibber is Sunshineheaven

Yep been to Mallorca. Lovely place. Can be very touristy if you want it to be but also more low-key depending on your choices.

The food is really cheap with a good choice of restaurants. Not sure if you're taking kids but if you are the locals pamper them something rotten.

Haven't stayed in Palma Nova but have been to Mallorca a few times (Cala D'or and Pollensa). It's a lovely island with a variety to suit everyone.

Pollensa is a nice place for a day trip. You've got Puerto Pollensa, a nice little town on the beach with some good shops and restaurants, then the old town of Pollensa (reached by a 10 min bus ride from Puerto Pollensa), lovely old squares with cafes/resturants and a church.

Cheers mate, so it is not classed as Palma Nova then? Travel agents be liars! We have been to Mallorca once before, stayed near Santa Ponsa and have a friend in Palma. We have visited Peguera and I did Porto Colom as a kid but have done little else. What would you recommend for family of six? Do you know owt about the food at Barcelo Cala Vinas specifically? Not quite sure what the half-board room facilities are either? Can a kettle be expected!

Any info about entertainment would be great. Thinking of doing the Pirates dinner show in Magaluf and Aquacity and will have a hire car for three days of the fourteen. What is the transport like around the island? Is Magaluf walking distance or a definite taxi? With their being six of us is it likely we will need two taxis like here?

Any info at all greatly appreciate, sorry to hammer you with questions!

deffo not palma nova you have to go thru palma nova then magaluf and out into cala vinas .it is walkable but i would not like to do it every nite .
all barcelo hotel/aparthotels are great food is allways good when they had the others in palma nova/torrenova they were allways good [we used to tell our rellies to book them when coming over ]they used to have kettels in their aparthotels .
pirates is a great show ,also go to western water park its next to auqacity but has shows has well has water rides ect ect .
markets at andraixt [weds] is worth a visit
inca [ thurs ] is great for leather goods
boot sale at bottom of magaluf sat morns ok to have a look
what is a great afternoon /nite out is moonlite horse riding you book at the atractions shops in resort .they pick you up at your hotel about 2pm take you across the island to rancho grande .their you have a sangria reception then get your horse [they cater for all ages and abilities] if you dont ride go round in the sangria waggon with the refreshments a covered horse n cart with as much sangria has you can drink on the way round .the cart driver sings spanish folk songs after you have ridden onto the beach you go back to the ranch for a bbq then line dancing into the early hours with free sangria all nite you get home about 2am well pickled lol .
if you want a ride out in car go to valldamosa /dieya and have a ride up to cap de formentor .buses are very good and plenty of them if you get 1 into palma stay on to placa espana the bus station and from there you can get to anywere on the island
if you can get a map of the island look for palma nova then magalug then you will see cala vinas .it is a up and coming area but its not where they are telling you it is
hope this helps if you need anymore info please pm me and i will let you have it
