Have you stayed somewhere in the UK that was fabulous?
DH & I are looking for a couple of nights away on our own and would appreciate any suggestions.
I know some say that your accommodation is just a base, but we like to be spoiled a bit. We've stayed in some lovely B&B's in North Wales and would like to find others in the UK. Travelling is not a problem, thank you for any ideas for places & B&B's

We stayed at the Swan in Southwold in Suffolk, we had the largest suite for our anniversary and the food is delicious, they are linked to Adnams brewery if you like real ale.

you get 10% off ticket from the amber shop along with a few other nice shops in Southwold when you stay there as well. We booked the week we wanted to go and got quite a discount on what we were quoted originally, obviously you are taking a gamble then as to getting the date you want. I live in Lowestoft now, small world

We had a fabulous time at Berrio Bridge near Launceston, Devon. Nigel & Helen are very good hosts and Nigel will cook an evening meal if you wish. There are only two rooms - go for the twin - as it has a separate dressing room, a fantastic bathroom and a sitting room. Just type in Berrio Bridge and it will come up in google. It is a lovely cottage on the river and you can fish from there - right in the middle of nowhere.

It was as a base for Alton Towers and it was a fair few years ago but Henmore Cottage in the lovely village of Clifton (Near Ashbourne) was a magnificent setting. We stayed there for 3 nights with breakfast included and the food was fantastic. Also there was a lovely village pub about 2mins walk away which served very good homecooked food for next to nothing.

Plenty of other stuff to do apart from Alton Towers obviously.

DH & I stayed here for a couple of nights once, the room was simply gorgeous (we stayed in the 4-Poster room number 2 "Trowle") and the food was to die for, all locally sourced and so very fresh :tounge:

Not cheap but highly recommended.

We stayed at The Riverbank B&B for a couple of nights for a wedding and it was so peaceful and beautiful, its right on the river in an old house with a little local pub at the end of the road. The food was lovely and rooms were so large. Here's the link the pictures do no justice though and we had a 4 poster bed http://www.a1tourism.com/uk/riverbankbb.html

Have a look at Wolsey Lodges - they are all individually run and range from a couple of rooms to about 6 max.

We've stayed at Beryl just outside Wells in Somerset -enormous room and the bathroom was something else - talk about a 'throne' of a loo - you looked straight out of the window to Wells' spire!

Have also stayed near Malmesbury and just outside Salisbury.

Very personal service and usually lovely grounds. Not all are licensed so it's as well to have a bottle of wine in the boot!

We have stayed at this B&B a few times. Heatherdenehotel.com It has always been superb. It is located in the North Yorkshire Moors in the village of Goathland. If you watch heartbeat its Aidensfield !! It's only a small village but there are loads of walks close by.
