I've been reading a few reviews lately. both guide books and online that say when riding Splash Mountain, you get soaked/drenched/very wet etc. I rode it and watched it several times at Easter 2002 and saw no one get more than a few drops on them. Is this usual? or has anybody acutally got soaked on it?

I do the ride is very very good though, wet or not!

we usually get splashed occassionally getting a bit wet, but to be honest it's usually more the "wet bum" syndrome from sitting on the wet seat!!!!!

Now Kali is whole other story!!!!

splash depends on the day we have been soaked dry and sprinkled.
sorry but kali is a waste of a ride. the best ride like that is popeye in ioa.

Kali is dumb, you might as well just stand there and have somebody through a few buckets of water over you then sit down bored for a couple of minutes.

Popeyes is a lot better, Splash Mountain is good but the water absolutely reeks!

Splash Mountain is a very tame ride and we have been on it many times and never had more than a few drops of water on us. Kali-fantastic-one of the best.We always love it, but the best IMHO is Ripsaw Falls. Popeye is good too-you will get soaked. Amazing how opinions differ!

Hi,
Splash Mountain is one of my favourite rides, I think it`s brilliant and I really love Pirates of the Caribbean. We`ve never got wet on it, but my youngest son and I got absolutely soaked on the Jaws ride in Universal. Hubby and our eldest son only got a bit wet. Jamie and I were at the front of the boat on the left hand side and we ended up with our shorts and pants being absolutely saturated as if they`d been in the washing machine and not been spun!! We sat down on a bench afterwards which was really warm from the sun and as our soaking wet backsides hit the seat, there was a sizzling noise and all this steam rose up. It was quite a sight!! I wouldn`t go on Jaws again, I didn`t think much of it to be honest, the E.T. ride is my absolute favourite in Universal.

I;ve been absolutely drenched on Splash, but not from the drop itself, but when you come round the corner if you are unlucky you get hit by the splash from the next car.

i was also drenched on Kali RR, and have to agree it's a very disappointing ride, fortunatly we walked on otherwise I would have been really upset as it's so short, and basically you just get on, get soaked and get back off again,

Another "mug" or should that say mum who got totally drenched on splash Mountain whilst rest of family did get splashed.

of course they thought it was really funny. I was so wet that I had to by a dry t-shirt at the exit shop

I ridden Splash loads of times and never really got soaking wet.
The worse time was this August when a wave from the front of the boat rebounded of a rock and splashed right back into the middle of my chest!
Like someone else said - the only part of you to get really wet is your bum! (and the water does pong a bit).

Try riding at night when it's dark - it's much better :)

The girls rode Splash 11 times in December and it was different everytime. The got absolutely soaked on Popeye, and verywet on Atlantis and Jurassic Park. Their mum did want to sit in the front row on Jaws and we all had "very wet bottom syndrome" on that.

Splash seems to be relatively dry.

Kali River Rapids is not too bad.

The really wet rides are Popeye and Bluto's Bilge Rat Barges and Dudley Doright at IOA, and the three water rides at Busch Gardens - the Tanganika Tidal Wave is absolutely soaking.

Normally not to bad however I remember one year getting soaked and i almost lost a contact lens!. I suppose its part of the fun you just dont know for sure how wet you will get.

We used to say that you got wetter if your boat stopped around the corner after the big drop when other people were dropping down.

We discussed this last time and it seems that almost everyone seems to stop there now. We wondered if it they had changed it so that it always happened now as we definitely got wetter every time.

LOL!!!! I compare Kali to taking a shower - we were absolutely drenched! I'll remember to pack my cossie for the IOA and Busch rides then! ;)

Splash Mountain is my version of 'not too bad' though you usually end up with a wet bum as the seats area already wet when you sit down.

Mazzy,
We put swimwear on for Popeye's ride and it worked well as we left our bags/normal clothes at lockers by Jurassic park, walked back quickly to Popeyes for our Express pass time and got back to JP before our time ran out on the locker. Must say it was more relaxing and fun knowing you could change out of the wet clothes especially as it was a cooler day when we went on it!!!
Racsam,
I have found SM to be generally dry except one time when the ride stopped for a short time and DH was by a small waterfall down the side of the mountain and he got quite wet!!! Especially as other boats were going down the splash and it came over the side of the wall and hit him!!! :D
