Trying to convince DS to go on this but he will not do coasters that go upside down............
I cant find any pics, but being a wooden coaster I would think it doesnt

Gwazi doesn't go upside down.......but it's the worst ride ever....it's a rough rough bone shaker....I hate it....lol but if your son's only worried about going upside down....he'll be fine....as it doesn't

If you go to you tube you most often can find a video clip of the rides. I have used this to try and tempt pampar onto some of the more thrilling rides. She is still adament that she will not do an upside down type of ride (still hoping) but she is willing to try others that she would not dream of attempting last year

Hate it, hate it, hate it!!!:erm:
I have been on all the coasters and thrill rides over there and I love them all. Except this one!:omg:
I truly felt like I was going to die. I am quite petite and I felt totally unsafe and like I was going to fall out and plummit to my death!:omg:
Never again!:erm:

Looks quite tame, but we thought we were going to fall out, really scary and bone shaking

1st time we went to BG we rode this 5 times on the trot :d: 2nd time we went to BG - once was enough. I had a headache after going on it.
The bigger upside-down rides are so much smoother. Even grumpy aka DH loved the Montu, commenting on how smooth it was - he even went of for a 2nd & 3rd ride(front seats)

One of my favourites, but I normally end up on it by myself wth the family waiting it out. Don't miss it
Gwazi is a superb ride but as others have said, your breakfast will be shaken AND stirred!

there are a few vids on youtube, it lasts about 1.50 min and doesn't go up side down but doesn't look quite a rough ride like all wooden coasters

I too love roller coasters but will NEVER, EVER, EVER go on Gwazi again :omg:
The kids though it was hysterical but I came off with a thumping headache and spent the whole ride waiting for it to end :erm: They went straight round to ride the other one but I waited for them and DH at the exit! It is such a bone shaker, really awful. But, as others have said, it doesn't go upside down

Gwazi is an amazing coaster yes its bumpy but that is the joy of the woodies.. front row is really scary though as you feel your right on the track! but what a thrill!
I remember being like your son .. would try anything that didn't go upside down. I really thought I would get the tummy turning experience that I hated when I road the Revolution at Blackpool and the upside down pirate ship.. I still wouldn't do the upside down pirate ship cos that really is a tummy turner but I faced my fears at Busch Gardens with Python (alas gone now but was basically two barrel rolls then I did Scorpion which just has the one loop and then there was no stopping me!! I love em all now but hate hate hate Tower of Terror ans that doesn't go upside down .. steel suspended coasters are the smoothest rides they are really just fun not tummy turning

What she said exactly!
What's more it aggravated an old whiplash injury for me that was painful for a couple of days and could have spoiled my holiday for me. :(

Thanks for the replies :spin: :d: you either love it or hate it then.....no inbetween :pgig:
Another Q if I could persuade DS to do a coaster that goes upside down, your opinions on the gentlest/ shortest/least scary one to ease him in :D

Kracken at Seaworld is the smoothest coaster I've ever been on and it goes upside down a couple of times. Most others do have a tendency to jar you a bit but my other favourite is Rn R.
There is a little rollercoaster at Busch Gardens that goes upside down i think it's The Scorpion?Montu is also very smooth but you do go upside down a few times.

Scorpion at Busch or Rock 'n' Roller coaster. The loop is near the beginning and over almost before you know it!

I am the biggest roller coaster fan in the world but i hate Gwazi. I always come off with a headache and feel like i have internal injuries. It's not a wooden thing either as Grand National and the likes at Blackpool don't have the same effect,

MONTU at Busch - it goes upside down and is the smoothest and most exhilerating coaster I've been on - Kraken has a mean drop and a fast loop, whereas Montu is a fab wider more sweeping loop - just brilliant :thumbs-up

It sure is a bone shaker! but it is a super woodie coaster, its the best one I've been on, don't miss it you've got to try it! I love it, we always go to Busch and I've never missed going on it yet. Go for it.
Montu is a really smooth ride, its the smoothest one I've been on, there is no jarring or shaking and I've been on every coaster in Orlando, :D but it does go upside down.
I'm not sure if I have mixed them up but I think that the scorpion is the one that only has a lap bar, (no safety bars over your chest area).
It is a smallish coaster and only has 1 loop but your son might be a bit freaked out by the thought of only a lap bar. I've been on it and it's safe enough but some younger kids were crying when they got close to it and saw the safety restraints.

Rock 'n' Roller at MGM ... it was my 10yr olds first looping coaster but he didn't know that before he rode it! When he came off it was "Lets do that again!"
Gwazi - One for the "woodie" fans and definately "shake, rattle and roll"
Scorpion - is a good entry level coaster that does a single loop and only uses a lap bar.
Goofy's Barnstormer - In MK is quite tame
The Flying Unicorn - In IOA, similar to the above
My eldest DD always wanted to do a big coaster but finally went on Duelling Dragons and not looked back ever since.
Best advice is not to force the issue and let them decide when the time is right.

My DS was really unsure about 'going upside down' and didn't go on Scorpion as he didn't like the look of it, then, later in the day he suddenly decided that he'd like to try Montu :erm: He loved it and went on to ride Hulk, Duelling Dragons and Rock'n'Roll  He didn't like Tower of Terror though :confused2
My DD can't wait to get on the big coasters. She was able to do Scorpion and Rock'n'Roll this year and hopefully when we go back she'll be tall enough for the others

I would say RnR at the Studios, it's not the gentlest, but it's in the dark, so you can't see what it like beforehand and while your on it.

metal vs wood.
Gwazi is fantastic, but as the guy next to me last time said 'you just have to let it put you where it wants'. If you try to resist being thrown around and bumped on a woody you will have a worse time, so go with the flow.

Felt safe all the time. x
