View Full Version : Does the pool need heating?
Didn't even think about having the pool heated at the villa until yesterday and found out it costs £110 per week. That's a small chunk out of our money - do you think we will need the pool heating. I am hoping when we get back from the parks - tea time ish the sun will have heated the pool up!!!! What do you think - or should I stop being a minge bag and pay the £220.

We are going to our villa on the weekend and I've asked our manager to turn the pool heating on. Our pool gets the sun all day but I still like it warmer for the evenings as the outside temperature can drop a bit in the evenings.

I would say you definately need the pool heating in March/April it would be a shame to have a pool but not be able to use it.
If you do pay for pool heating make sure you use the pool blanket if there is one as this will stop the pool cooling down too much overnight which means it will be nice to swim in early in the morning too.

I you get the pools heated what is the temperature like, please. If we wait until we go on holiday can they still put the heating on?
Sorry for all the question but have not done a villa before and really looking forward to it :D
The managment company can turn the heating on for you when you get there, but it does take a few days to heat up fully! I think they heat the pool to around 89degrees?? We go in August and still have the pool heated as the water gets very chilly in the evening/night and early mornings! I would not use the pool in March without pool heat!

Definetly get the pool heated. We were there in December and TBH it made the holiday. We were in the pool at 8am and on Christmas night we were in the pool at 11pm. No way would I get in it without heating.

Never done a Villa holiday, much as I would like to have one of my own.
I think it would be such a shame if you were looking forwards to the pool and when you got there it was too cold to enjoy.

hi guys,
i'm going first two weeks of may, will i need to get it heated ??
thank you.
the genral rule of thumb (from what i can gather)is that October thru til May you will need pool heat.
so the first 2 weeks of May i wouldn't have thought so although personally i think i would have it heated (wouldn't want to risk it)
I would definately say have pool heat. We were there in Feb and had pool heat, half way through the holiday the maintainence company came and turned the heating down  We really noticed the difference, even though it was still warm.

April/May is the threshold for most people, I would say for May if you know the villa has a pool heater (ie. it isnt allocated on arrival - AOA) then I would leave it off and ask for it to be turned on when you are there if you find it a little cool.
If its a AOA villa you might want to add it to make sure they give you one with a pool heater.
For March Id have the heater on, the sun just doesnt work that well!

I just dont like cool, tepid or cold water, lol. I prefer it to be warm. We went in June last year, our pool had the sun from 10am onwards and although it wasnt freezing it still wasnt to my liking. I wished that we had took the pool heating and going back this June my first thought was to book it! Because we are returning guests and we are staying for over 3 weeks it is being thrown in free:D I would still have paid for it anyway and cant wait to enjoy a lovely warm pool:)

another pool heat question.
We are going on 18 July in a villa with a pool and it says it is south facing, would we need pool heated?
I am sure DS and DD will be in the pool as often as they can.
Thanks :)

It's really down to personal preference. Most people don't have pool heating during the summer months, but some do prefer warmer water. We have guests in August that always have pool heat and have other guests who have booked pool heat for July.
If you have booked with the owner you could wait until you get there and then have it turned on if you felt it was too cold. If you have booked allocation on arrival then there is no guarantee your pool will have a heater if you don't book pool heat.
I doubt your kids will care either way!
