For anyone who has stayed in a villa at Thousand Oaks, please could you let me know if it is a gated community or not. Thanks x
I haven't stayed there but our villa is just down the road, so we drive past Thousand oaks and it is not gated.

I wouldn't let the fact that a community is not gated put you off staying there. We've stayed in Sunset Lakes two years running and on both occasions the gates have been broken and were wide open. Also every delivery driver, bin man, postman etc., will know the code so unless there is a security guard on the gate I don't think gated communities are any more secure

It depends on where you stay and if there is a guard on the gate as you say.
Where we stay there is a guard on the gate 24 hrs a day and no one (and I mean no one) gets in unless the guard has been told in advance. You can only get in with a proximity card and the community is regularly patrolled.

Our community is gated and I've never once seen our gates open or broken... our HOA (home owners association) are very keen on security!

Stayed there several times before we bought our own and as others have said, it isn't gated. It also has two entrances/exits - the main one from/to CR54 and also one at the top of the estate (sorry, don't know the name of this road).

Our community is gated as well it also has a security guard. Our last villa wasn't on a gated community and even though the villa was fantastic and we loved it I do feel slightly more secure on this community.

A lot of gated community are just gates at the front and a lot can be very easily accessed from the sides or back which are not gated also on ones we have visited with guards they also have show homes and open homes and the guards let you through without any trouble anyway or even to golf courses. We have a gated community next to us same type houses built by same builder and same HOA and a gate at front but nothing at all between us and them and the maintainence people all just walk across between the two.

We must have been lucky then because the one we was on is gated front and back and until each guard recognised us they stopped us every time. Maybe thats because there was no golf course on the one we stayed on.
