Would it be really frowned upon if I asked for the kids menu choices for a 12 and 11 year old in the parks?

in the fast food places etc we used to have the childrens choices sometimes and we're not adult. Not sure about the more organised sit down places though.

No it will be fine ! I have known adults do it actually ! There are so many people with gastric bands and special diets these days that have to eat kids portions i think they are well used to it .

As long as it's not a buffet or all you can eat restaurant you will be fine. DS2 was 15 last year and ate off the kids meal when he wasn't very hungry. Trouble is the kids meals are not very good and practically the same at all the Disney restaurants.

Sometimes the kids options are nicer than the adults. We do this regularly

My children have eaten off the children's menu and never had a problem. When we went last year my children were 7, 11 and 13 and they all ate off them :thumbs-up

You will be fine even my son of 13 ate of the kids menu at the Beach Club Steak House. I explained to the guy in reception that he was 13 even though the menu said kids meals 3 to 9. But no way would my son eat a full steak etc. Anyway guy in reception at the Beach Club just said to book for a kid as no one will question his age on the night.

My wife regularly eats of the kids menu in Orlando as she has a very small appetite, no problem at all.
The other thing you can do is to share meals as some are so large, ask for an extra plate and tip as if you had ordered extra and they will be quite happy.

My kids prefer the adults menu so we tend to order 3 meals between 4 of us. My Mum who is 70 this year regularly orders a kids meal.

What about if your on the DDP? can the kids still eat of the kids menu even tho we have paid for the adult menu?

Unless they specifically state an age limit, you should be OK.

You should be okay to do it but let your server know because they have to fiddle around with it on the computer. Its doable though. :)

I had this issue before we went and was assured things would be fine, we didn't find that. Our youngest was 11 years old and a fussy eater not helped by him being special needs. On our first night at Yacht Club Galley the server didn't seem happy about it but did it, we ate buffets a lot of the time so no issue there, but Sci Fi the waiter was horrible and fiddled the receipt at the end of our meal to show an adults meal for our son (as we were on the dining plan it didn't actually affect our pocket, he wouldn't have done it otherwise) he told us we should have said when we checked in rather than waiting till we sat down and asked for the childs menu! It was horrible that he made me feel I should keep mentioning Ashley's condition just to keep the waiting staff happy.

Hi,
We tend to eat all of our evening meals off site and have never had a problem at all. Last year my children were 10 and 12 and although some of the child menu's stated only up to 9 years, they ordered off them without being questioned at all.

Have a great holiday :thumbs-up

Good advice, my 13 year old just wouldn't manage adult portions...

As someone else mentioned....if its a TS meal, make sure you tell them when you check-in at the restaurant that your "adult age" child will be ordering from the kids menu!! It isnt a problem, but they DO need to know! :) We have done it many times with no problems.

As for CS meals, nobody knows who is eating what, so its no big deal at all! Ive seen me eating CS kids meals  , but i love their macaroni, and you just dont get it in adult portions :(

Good to know all this, as my mum eats hardly anything! So i'm sure she'll be eating of most of the kid's menus. :D

For the 'older' person many places offer a seniors menu which is simply smaller portions of the main items. Normally you need to be over 50, or at least look like you are heading that way. ;)

When I booked our adrs the cm asked our dds ages - they will be 11 and 12. I know both of them will prefer the child's menu in most restaurants. Will the fact that I have told them the girls' ages stop them ordering from the child's menu? What about our fantasmic package?
