Are there any nice Indian restaurants in Orlando?
The only one I've ever noticed is Passage to India on the west 192, though I've never visited as it always looked a bit shabby on the outside. Anyone been? Any other suggestions?

As a resident I can recommend two place near the I-Drive area. The first is in the Kmart shopping plaza on Turkey Lake Drive. It gets very busy and is little on the high side but it is very good. We have never been disappointed.
Memories of India
7625 Turkey Lake Road
Orlando, FL 32819
(407) 370-3277
They have been voted #1 several years running and it's well deserved.
The other place would be in a shopping plaza at the intersection of Sand Lake Road and Dr Phillips Blvd. This is about 15 minutes from I-Drive.
It is a very small place, a little lower in price, but very good.
They offer counter service and sit down dining.
Spice Cafe

hi
can vouch for both these places suggested by a poster who lives in orlando, they are great places. as stated the first one is a bit more expensive but well worth it.
I can recommend Spice Cafe but not Memories of India.
We went 3 years ago and the kitchen was filthy. The carpet was sticky and very overpriced. The food is not much to brag about.

I live in the area of both of these restaurants and they are certainly the ones that we would recommend. Memories of India has a second location in Lake Mary (very close to Sanford) and that restaurant is also voted in the top as well.
Spice Cafe is probably our choice out of the two though. They have made some changes recently and I think they are trying to be a bit more upscale in looks but not in the price.

Spice Cafe is indeed ok, they are very friendly but I have found NOTHING in Orlando that comapres to a decent curry back home and it is the only thing I miss.

I think Epcot needs an India pavilion with a restaurant. :D

Been three times;
2005 - Fantasic, which is why we went again a few days later
2006 - The worst meal, not just Indian, I have ever paid for

Yeap, def' a gap in the World Showcase there. If not an Indian Pavilion perhaps an Indian Takeaway opposite the Rose & Crown!

Actually that would make a lot of sense -- it would show US visitors a little more of what the present-day UK is like rather than the kind of old-fashioned postcard image the UK pavilion has. (The films in some of the countries need updating terribly. I think the one in France dates from about 1982!) Some people in the US assume that everyone in the UK eats very bland food but they have never had an authentic British takeaway curry, which is much spicier than much of the food in the US! :D
