After going on holidays to America in the summer, ive finally got round to putting the video onto the computer and i wanted to do some editting with WMM.

So, Ive gone onto the programme and tried to open one of the video files but its saying that WMM does not recognise the file type. The file type is a .MOD. Is there any way we could change the type of file it is saved as so WMM recognises it? Maybe to a .avi or a .mov?

Many thanks.

I assume this is a JVC device.

You should have got a software package with the purchase called PowerDirector.
This can convert the .mod files to .avi or .mpg.

Alternately you can try and get another software package to convert it for you. Something like this, maybe download it for the trial?

Another good source is here

A quick fix is to manually rename the "filename.mod" to "filename.mpg".
It will play in Media player, however you may lose the sound.
Make a copy of it and try.
