I would urge you to make ADR's before you go. Particularly as you are going during free dining, the restaurants will be sooo busy.

Most definately book any character meals and special occasion meals before you go.

As Leanne said, with free DDP it will be really busy, you would have real trouble getting sat at a restaurant without an ADR. Book your ADR's now, or whenever you get to 180 days, you can always cancel them later on if you decide that you don't want to do them.

I am worried about getting too tied down to having to be someone at a certain time/day..we have roughly planned out our days but things always change.....do you recomend any Great places the children would love that we should ADR....My little Princess (not into girly things but still loves everything Disney and HSM) is going to be 9 and my little man will be 6 and loves very character going...

I understand you feeling like that and it can become a bit restricting. However it is also a great experience to try out the different Disney restaurants on offer.

'Ohana breakfast at the Polynesian resort was our favourite character meal last Sept. This is with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. The food was lovely and the character interaction was great.

I doubt you will want to dine with the characters all the time though so you would need to take a look at the normal restaurant menus to see what takes your fancy.

I haven't done that many Disney meals in the past, so I can't really recommend anything from that point of view. We are going again next week :spin: and I've booked breakfast at Boma for the first morning. It's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and it's not a character meal, it gets gets great reviews from people on the Dibb. My kids are 10 & 11 and are really looking forward to eating there.

I understand your desire to be flexible.

Sadly, you are in competition with thousands of visitors who will book up all the restaurants. At many restaurants there will be no tables available by the time you arrive in resort - if you intend to use up your DDP entitlements you almost *have* to book ADRs.

When we first went it was with children almost the same age as yours and we were faced with 60-90 minute waits without ADRs. And that was before DDP, which now fills the restaurants.

Tastes vary but some things we did with an 8 year old girl include Crystal Palace character breakfast (or lunch or dinner); Ohana; 50's Prime Time Cafe; Hollywood & Vine Fantasmic; Tony's Town Square Restaurant; Le Cellier.

I would urge you to do this - look at your current plans and book an appropriate restaurant for each day (perhaps making lunch your main meal to give you more evening freedom). Then, when you get to each day and if you change your mind about what you want to do, call Disney Dining from in your room and find out what else is available.

That way you have a definate table somewhere but can tweak your plans. Remember that in most cases you can cancel your booking at the last minute (or, in the extreme, not show up) without affecting any other ADRs.

Edit: I notice you are going in September when it is free DDP - the restaurants will be absolutely packed so you really need to get booking ADRs as soon as you can - the 6 month window is just opening so you are already ahead of the game.
