My DDs will be 11 and 12. Last year they both ate off the child's menu preferring more simple, familiar and smaller choices. However, we were in the dark about adrs and basically ate ts when and where available. This year we wanted more choice and having been enlightened by the DIBB have made a number of adrs only trouble is gave our dds ages when booking and after reading the previous thread am worried that they will not be able to eat from kids menu. I'm not so much worried about the cost as the fact that it could ruin the dining experience for all of us if the girls are forced to choose from the adult menu. There is no way either of our girls could eat an adult portion - I struggle myself! Anybody been in this situation before. I didn't think when I reeled off their ages it might stop them eating kids meals!

If it is a buffet rest they will be charged according to age. Other restaurants I have never had a problem ordering from either menu for my children regardless of age.
Something we have often done is shared an adult portion between 2 children. Then they get interesting food in small portions. Never had a problem doing this.

Thanks for that - Has anyone ever booked an adr and had the childs menu refused because you gave children's ages when booking?

On our last trip we made a few adr's stating DD was 11, but in most of the restuarants they still handed her a childs menu - which she was not at all impressed with as she hated the fact they thought she was a 'child'! :pgig:
It really won't be a problem for them to order off the kids menu even if they are on the adr as adults!
We never had a problem with our DD ordering off the children's menu even though she was 13 and down as an adult on adr. She is a really fussy eater and turned her nose up at everything on the the adults menu :pgig:

Thanks everyone - you've really put my mind at rest. Do you think the same will apply to our fantasmic package with Mama Melrose or will this be different as a dining package?

The dining package is a fixed price according to age, so you will have to pay the adult price, but she can order anything she wants. Although it's a bit of a poor deal if she doesn't choose a proper entree.
Anywhere that you are paying the menu prices, you can order anything you want, even adults could order off the kids menu if the asked
