No sound on lap-top?

Ok, this is a really simple problem but I don't know how to solve it :blush: .

Quite simply I have no sound on my lap-top, my volume control is up full so the question is 'where is the setting for my speakers to work?'.


Its happened before and dh sorted it but didn't tell me how he has done it :confused2 .

on mine, there is a mute button on the front edge of my lappy and i'm forever knocking it on and off accidently with my wrists or the heel of my hand as i'm typing

Mine's the same. There's a mute button to the left of the volume down button. It has a symbol that looks like a speaker with an X through it. First time I turned the sound off, I thought I'd broken the laptop!
